I have a bone stock Dragon Slayer .50 and it takes Deer no problem. What distance are you shooting at? What can I expect accuracy wise?If I ever call in a coyote it will take one of those too.
The 8 point I took was at 35 yards and I found the round ball in the skin on the opposite side from where he was shot (right in the vitals). He was found 50 yards from where shot. My maxium distance for a shot on Deer is 100 yards. I would consider out to about 150 yards for coyote however I've not shot it past 100 yards and very little of my hunting gives me that kind of room. It is important that you range whichever you choose since at 100 yards I have an ~8 inch drop from my 30 yard zero. I have changed scopes now so I get to do it all again. I make a range card and like to range it off every 10 yards that way I have a quick reference for hold over.
That is why I went with a production gun to start with. It cut down the confusion, let me get my feet wet and see if I really wanted to use them for a much lower price to enter the market.
Personally I would go with a Sam Yang to start with, can always upgrade and in the meantime while waiting for a gun to be built you'll have one to shoot/Hunt with,.....The XP I ordered has being over 3 months and it's not up for building yet.Yes Will Piatt ins in N.C.
