I believe the 1720T barrels are around $50-$60 from crosman. Unlike the Mrod barrel, you won't be able to pre-test until the machine work is done.
I don't get too many evasive birds here, so used on 'monks and reds. I won't shy away from a gray within 35 yds, either.

Nice, I dont get chipmunks around here. Plenty of grays though. My friends back yard is full of walnut and oak trees, can drop 20 in a day and doesn't seem like they're slowing down at all.
Use my 2260 pcp carbine with baracuda hunters, tack driver out to 35-40 yards with them. 1760 pcp also has quite a few on its record.
Thanks for all the help guys. Especially you Fuzzy! I will most likely give Roy a call and have a barrel made. I'll report back if/when this project comes to fruition.

One more thing. Anyone know how bad the accuracy would suffer if I were to just cut and crown the stock barrel? I would lose the choke for sure. I'm thinking it wouldn't be any worse than a standard 177 barrel off say a discovery, which in my experience are pretty darn accurate.

Update to this project. I received a quote from Mountain Air for a shortened barrel and he wanted more than I paid for the rifle lol. I just put the fortitude back together in the boyds thumbhole stock I have with a Mrod trigger group. Has two settings now. Low power, its getting 30 shots from 900-975 fps with 8 grain pellets. High power, gets 30 shots at 950-1000 fps with 10.65 cudas! The ES on low power is a little more than I'd like, but its a tack driver with cheapie CPHPs at 30 yards. On high it does get an occasional flyer but it'll cloverleaf at 30. Haven't got the chance to shoot it further yet, except a few sparrows at about 45 yards that it had no problem hitting so im sure its good to go.
Thanks for everyone's input!
