I'll add a couple data point that might be useful. No time to do more. Already stayed up to 2AM tinkering and there's actual work that needs to be done on the farm! Sorry my testing is not as precise as others here. For the .177 swap, I put in an 18" LW to keep it as short as possible. There's only about a 1/2 of barrel past the band. I had to shave the end cap to fit the LDC and added three set screws to secure it. Shooting 8.4gr AA field I get about 780fps at 8 pumps and 820 fps at 10 pumps. Chrony is about 8-12 inches in front of the LDC. That's good enough for me. Sure a heck of a lot easier to pump and scope than my 392/397 and Steroid guns. Might have found my ideal truck gun.
Am I reading this wrong? Wasn't there a 8 pump max on these rifles?
Arrrgh! Those velocity numbers are similar to what my Winchester 1977XS is capable of....and just when I got my 1977 shooting the way I wanted it. I put the Ronno trigger mod in it. Which gives it a 1.5 lb trigger pull.I too am looking towards 50 yard target shooting / hunting with a .177 caliber C362. I'll soon be ordering a .177 18-20 inch barrel for it.
Look at it this way Eddie.... it will be a labor of love and a h3ll of a learning experience. If everything always worked out perfectly on the first try we would never learn anything.try listing your breech in the classifieds... maybe someone has the right one and needs the one you have and would be willing to trade.
I want to try the 18" on this gun, and really don't mind the lack of ability to hang any doo-dads (anything that moderates muzzle report is considered a "silencer" and is illegal in my state, as airguns are seen as firearms...I know, I really have to move away from here!). Only issue I see is front sight, but I can probably screw something into the front "brace"? If I like it in .177, I'll try to find a 24" barrel.
