How did you grip it to unscrew ?I replaced rings the hard way without unscrewing, was a real pain and they ended up overstretching. But the upside is they seal super now and my unit pumps real fast, at higher temp of coursebut like twice as fast now.Quote from: superchikn on January 10, 2022, 03:44:05 PMI tried replacing the stage 2 seals on mine, did not go well. The end cap was a bear to unscrew, should have used more heat on the loctite. Also should have chased the threads as I broke the threaded shaft when reassembling.boiling water was not working well for me for reinstall of the seals and I gave up.However I did a couple of the 2nd stage piston assemblies with seals installed and that worked fine.

For tasks like this, I generally use a couple of scrap pieces of aluminum. Clamp together and drill through the middle. This cuts half diameter in each piece. Use a bit slightly smaller than od of piece you want to grab. Then clamp piece in. If you need added grip, a little grinding compound helps. Keep a fair amount of tension while heating so you can tell when it breaks loose. In the case of brass, it can twist off easily so just try to put enough tension that is reasonable for the size/material. Dave

Are you saying the brass slender piston unscrews at each ring cut ?Mine sure looks like one solid piece. The rings sure would be a whole lot easier to install - but the piston may get destroyed.
