I took a look at the website and they are sold out. Are they still making the DAR airguns? I know there were a few problems with them a while back but they seemed pretty good overall.
(To be completely transparent here, I have cut the hammer spring, I have adjusted the regulator and the poppet return spring.) I continue to struggle with my .177 DAR, now I have a hammer bounce issue I cant figure out, it didn't bounce when I got it and after I cut the hammer spring, it was fine but since I adjusted it, the hammer bounce is horrible. I reset everything but the hammer still bounces. I will be looking for another .177 PCP soon if I cant get it to shoot.
Make an SSG for it. That'll cure it . Lots of guys on here used them. Simple to do .
You'll forget about the disfigurement when you get a super crisp shot cycle and pick up 10+ shots per fill Probably 20 shots on the 177. You have others that can remain purdy. You can use a brass screw and brass acorn nut when you get the tune where you want it. Will be less hideous to the eyes.
Well , another thought, just suffer then ha ha.

For me the fix was to up the poppet return spring pressure.

A stiffer poppet return spring will *reduce* the hammer bounce but it can also reduce the peak power. Cutting it probably increased your hammer bounce. I didn't cut the return spring, just the hammer spring. If you can get a stiffer hammer spring that is just the right length when the gun is fired (so there is no preload), it approximates the SSG concept, but you won't have the adjustability you can get with a SSG. Thank you, I will be looking for one today.IMO, the stock hammer springs on the DARs is too long and results in wasted air. I want lots of shots per fill with adequate power for dairy pesting. I set the regulator to get the power I want (without being greedy for massive power), then cut the hammer spring 1/4 coil at a time then test, until I get a slight drop in velocity. Then the efficiency gives what I'm after. This is exactly what I did, 700 FPS was the bottom on the regulator, I trimmed the hammer spring back 1/4 turn at a time until I got my shot count, now I have hammer bounce... Ray
To the original poster, the DARs are really nice PCPs that can be made even better with some tuning. Be patient, they will get more in stock.I used my 177 DAR at the dairy yesterday and it is so much fun! It is a bit like light-tackle fishing to use a 177 at the dairy for pesting.I had both my 25 Uragan and my 177 DAR set-up next to me and all my shots were with the DAR. But there are no squirrels. I shot them all already. But they will be back in the Spring.Ray
