Watching a " Christmas Story" last month...as I have done for the past 30+ years, The Daisy BB Gun comes to mind. Now, I wanted a BB gun in the worst way when I was 9 years old way back in 1960. My dad knew I wanted one. I collected pop bottles and even drug an old mattress a half a mile for the steel inside....for the "Big Bucks!" Pop must have realized at that point...I really did have the "BB Gun sickness!" Anyway, I was doing my homework in the fall in 4th grade when my Uncle Harold showed up one evening with what I now know was a green homemade gun sleeve and sat it against a kitchen corner wall. I had NO idea what was going on. They talked for a while and I remember my dad opening his wallet and handing my 'Great Uncle Harold" what had to be a $5.00 Bill. Pops looked at me and said...." Go Look!" Now my "Old Man" was a WW2 Pacific Theater Vet... HARDCORE...and he NEVER ever told me me in his 86 years of life.... that he loved me! He didn't have to....that little Daisy Model 25 said it all! dave

My old man was a Marine... Hardcore all the way. Still.
My first BB gun was the Crosman M1 carbine copy. It had a plastic stock. I picked it up at the flea market where I worked my first job. It wasn't what I was interested in at the time (because of my Crosman 180) so I sold it to a friend after a week or two.

I don't know my Daisy history, but it was smaller than a Red Ryder. Maybe a Buck? I found it on a canal bank behind our house back in the mid 70s. It was rusty and missing the stock, but my dad cleaned it up and made a new one for it. I've been hooked ever since.

My first " BB gun " was a daisy red Ryder I got with my birthday money when I was 12, now when I say " BB gun " I am talking about something that only shoots bb's.
I already had the Crosman 664gt I got at age 7 and a marksman pistol a couple years after that, but don't think of them as " BB guns " because they can shoot pellets.

I have memories of a Daisy model 25 I found in the workshop of my grandparent's barn. I oiled it up and it still worked. I remember picking off gypsy moth caterpillars on tree branches. I don't know what happened to that first 25 but I have another 1956 model 25 that I put all new seals in. It looks old but shoots like new.

Mine was a Daisy 25 - Christmas 1960. I wanted a Daisy Eagle - and when a friend upgrade from his Eagle to a Hahn Super BB Repeater, I _really_ wanted one of those. That did not happen. :(

My first BB gun.. It is important for you to know I was born and half raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I guess I was about 12 years old which would bring us to about 1946. Our Sunday Newspaper, which would be the Milwaukee Journal, had advertisements that if you sold garden seed packets, one of the prizes was a 'Daisy Red Ryder'. Well I sent for and received my packet of seeds. It was spring so I sold them all and sent the money to the Company for my Red Ryder.
Here is where Milwaukee comes in. BB guns were illegal in this city! I had beat the system because one day the Red Ryder arrived!
Heeding my Mothers advice not to take it outside, I did not, and only shot it in the basement. Even at that It was so much fun for me. I did have a friend that had family that lived outside of the limits and took it there a few times. Now, that was really fun, him and I shooting all kinds of objects with it outside.
Now we all know what a 'Busy Body' is! Well we had one in our neighborhood. One day a police officer came and snatched it away from me. What joy the busy body must have had watching the officer carry away that Red Ryder.
That is one of the reasons I was only half raised in Milwaukee because when I was old enough I left,
That first joy was short lived but now I have three Red Ryders and so many more air rifles.

My first one was my fathers. It was an Daisy Model 1894 that had all wood no plastic. He actually bought me a brand new one like The Model 105 Buck for my 9th birthday. My brother who was 4 years older than me wanted my brand new one not the Model 1894 that was my dads that he gave to him. So he wanted to trade. Well I made sure that the trade took place in front of my dad so he couldn't complain about it and try to get the 1894 back. Well I owned the brand new daisy for about 10 minutes but was REAL happy to give it up for the Model 1894. plus the 1894 really shot great!
