Title: First Try
Post by: JFS737 on December 10, 2021, 03:41:27 AM
I shot 3 targets at 100 yards late in the day, racing the sun and the mosquitoes, this is the best.   The other 2 were pretty good but this is quite a bit better, but they all have all 4  in black, but the other 2 have  flyer outside into the white.  I haven't tried 100 before.... so I am happy with my Cricket.  If anyone near Clermont FL wants t shoot long, let me know, I've got a good location.

Wind VERy light, maybe 1 or 3 but tail wind so a bit easier.

Regards,

John

Nice shooting Mr John. I believe that qualifies you for "Expert".
You were really really close to "Master" on that one.

Thanks,  got lucky and  very little wind was a plus.   I may have hit a high water mark early on.   I"ll give it another go next week.

Nice shooting’

Maybe it’s my phone, I think I see too many holes. If not, and you want to submit follow the rules (add a ruler) and post it.

I only see 5 holes.... Take another photo with a ruler across the 8-ring to show that it is 4" or less and you should be good to go....

I will be home from work on Tuesday.   Sorry about forgetting a ruler, will do when I return.   There is a pinhole from a pin I used to hold the target down on the right side, near the "Group"    "1.40"   line.   Maybe that's what he is referring to.   I used tape on the other sides but a pin is more secure generally so kept the tape from constantly giving way.  It's very small relative to a .22 pellet.  Also, the ammo was JSB 15.9, I think that's what you want in that line and mine is just  ".22".

Thanks,
John

I got a better look with a tablet tonight. The 6 and the 8 looked just like holes on my phone, and I just couldn't improve the image for some reason. Please go ahead and post the ruler picture.

OK,
Here is the ruler shot, backed with white this time to see holes easier. Sorry for the delay.

Great shooting, hope to see more of the same.
Can you tell us more about your setup and range?

Thanks,
my setup is a Kalibrgun Cricket in .22, standard.  It has an ATN 3-14x HD Scope on it.  I shoot off a picnic table with 2 sandbags and the target is a cardboard box with tape and pins holding a target.  I use a large shoot n see target on the right to sight in and judge wind then the NUAH target is shot on the left.  I use a Nikon rangefinder good to 0.1 yards to range the target.  JSB 15.9 seems to be the choice pellet for this gun, but it also likes 18's so maybe I'll try that.  The reticle on the ATN was not setup ideally for 100y so I'll also try to improve that.
I'm in Groveland FL (Just W of Clermont) and snowbird at a Hang gliding airport on Rt 33.  It's a wide open grass strip.  The owner is a shooter (powder burners) and allows me to shoot pretty much whenever I like  (I don't do so when it's busy... often but not always on weekends).  I generally shoot at or near sunset, sometimes with friends.  Most often I shoot at 50 yds, but 100 or even 200+ is available here.  This was my first time at 100y.
