not mine, but a very very interesting test. i definatly love it! and surprised me to say the least! there measured FPS was 840+, i will do the exact same test, using my Titan GP, later this week when my polymags and my Crow magnums get here. i ordered 3 tins of polys, and got a 4th tin of Crow's for free, thanks to PA.

i was impressed, i know for a fact, that CPHP's moving at 715 fps, out of my Titan, expand QUITE nicely upon hitting a nutter... i've pulled several out of the last few nutters i have shot. i am hoping that predators give me the tighter groups i want.

I found with my Titan GP .22 that it didn't like the crow magnums. it shot them ina bout a 1 inch spread. i did however take a eurasion dove with them, and very very loud plop, and puff of feathers... DOA. i've yet to shoot a gun that didn't LOVE predators however....

I've never had as much luck with Predators as far a grouping. Regular domed pellets are king for me. Having been a member of the Hunting Gate for over a year now, accuracy and skull penetration seem to be king over expansion. When you are hitting the head of critters accuracy is the most important thing over how much the pellet expands.
If you are shooting a deer or any animal in the heart/lung area, the bullet expansion and damage are super important. I'm just not sure that shooting a possum in the head that expansion matters as much as superb bullet placement.
Nonetheless, that was a ROCKZOR video! I love the effort put into it and it should be part of the GTA "Hall of Fame"

I did an expansion test in a bar of soap a while back and found that the Crow Magnum expands the most of any pellet I tested with the Polymag the second most. The CPHP is not really a hollow point at all. It's a Crosman Preimer pellet with a dimple. It expanded very little in the tests I performed. In the picture, the Crow Magnum is on the left and the polymag is on the right. They were shot from my steroid 392 which shot the Crow Magnum at 760 FPS (23.5 FPE) and the Polymag at 800 FPS (23 FPE). I found that both pellets need to be shot at high velocities to really expand fully. If shot from my Trail NP (19.5 FPE) they didn't expand nearly as much.

clay is alot harder than soft tissue and not an accurate test.

Harry Fuller has posted some very interesting data over on the Yellow Forum about Predator Pellets expansion on birds and other media. If you do a search you can find several of

I'm with Atchman on this one, placement trumps expansion every time. I've taken ground hogs with everything from my .177 R9 and S200 to a long barreled .22 Talon SS, and ranges between 20 and 35 yards. The ONLY sloppy kill was using Predators at 20 yards with my .177 S200 at about 15 fpe. The shot went where it was aimed, the critter fell off the low wall he was on, but then it got back up there! A second shot with a CPH finished him off, no more moving around, just rolled over, twitched for a second and done. Between that and the cost, that's the first and last time I've used Preds on anything.
As for the Crow Mags, I don't care how much they expand if you can't hit anything with them, and with one exception, I've found them near useless in just about any rifle of either caliber at anything beyond 20 yards. I've even tried playing around with velocity, low to mid 800's seems best, but still not good enough. The only exception is my Diana 34 .177, I was getting some surprisingly good groups at 30 yards, but I haven't done a follow up to see if it was a fluke :-). That rifle has always shown a preference for long pellets, which I think is the reason it also seems to like the Dynamic tin pellets I've been using in it.
BTW, my idea of acceptable hunting accuracy is being able to pick off paint balls consistently at the range I expect to be hunting. For springers, that means 70-80% at 25-30 yards, PCP's should be 90%+ at 40-50 yards. Later.

try my program w/crow mag. .22 in PCP only.Hand twist a #17drill (.173in.)into the skirt about 1mm. Enough that the head of a Crossman Destroyer or Domed .177 cal. head will fit when you push it in behind the Crow Magnum. They will not seperate except, sometimes after impact they might.I get exterem accuracy at least to 75ft. Exspansion is close to .270 or greater passing through3/8ths plywood.
