We had a wet day and out came the Varmint. Pulled it apart and sure enough it is a budget gun. The top hat was shoddy and the rear spring guide as part of the SAT trigger was far too sloppy. So i turned up a new top hat and guide to a proper fit. The spring buzz has gone. I also swopped the plastic scope for a Hawke and the sight picture is much clearer. Testing shows an increase of 35 fps. That might be a little bit of dieseling because there is a trace of smoke. I am not sure how that came about as i did not remove the piston and removed rather than added grease. My budget gun just got better.
