Who has a sunnen hone?

Tuners,
Who has a sunnen hone that may be able to fix he R1 tube. I looks like the factory cutting tool had a broken cutter or something. I bought the rifle used and because the seal won't "seal" consistently, I believe it causes inaccuracy problems. If you cock the rifle, unloaded, and blow into the barrel, it will not hold pressure. Air blows right through. Un-cocked, the barrel has back pressure so it's not a breach seal problem. Also, if honed enough to remove groves, can an oversized 30mm seal be found and fitted after propper crosshatch.
Or would it be easier to buy a new compression tube for a R1/HW80?
Thanks,
Higgs

Man, I feel your pain!
I've got an old HW80 MK1 from the UK that looks the same inside. I was thinking some home tuner got a little crazy with a brake hone and messed it up. But after seeing yours, I realize it must have been done by the factory. That's a shame...
Mine looks nearly the same as yours, but it seals up good and shoots consistent. It only makes around 15fpe of power however, with both a .22 and a .177 barrel. I blame most of the power loss and a fresh Maccari tune kit, and the use of the deep grooved lip-type parachute seal.
Try one of the "Vulcan SS" piston seals from Air Rifle Headquarters. It worked a treat on mine with the roughed up tube. It may not ever make full power with this type seal and the condition of the tube, but it may just make it consistent and accurate at least. Mine is now after some experimenting.
Contact Paul Watts and see if he will hone it for you. Or he may at least tell you your best option for trying to fix it.
Good luck with it buddy. You ain't alone!

Those are DEEP gouges !!
Hone those out your likely to need a 1mm O.S. seal.
Sadly a sunnen won't do this being they CANNOT hone up flush to roof of chamber.
Get a 3 stone "brake/wheel cylinder hone", some light cutting oil, electric drill and at least clean it up some.
Due to the tube being fully round in compression area, but CUT / slotted in the cocking mechanics area it will be very difficult to do uniformly so that an OS seal would pass by the slotted area and get to the larger diameter compression portion IF YOU GO CRAZY attempting to really open up and remove damage where seal needs to seal
Just sayin ...

Motorhead is spot on of course, my idea was to make a PVC mandrel wrapped with wet/dry sand paper so I could smooth out the chamber end to the end. The R1 has one more challenging caveat, the trigger block threads into the compression tube. You have to pass the mandrel over the threads to get into the tube. To get around this I put the mandrel in first and then loaded the sandpaper onto the mandrel through the cocking slot (pain in the Southern hemisphere!). I ran the mandrel with a drill with tube submerged in very soapy water (heavy dawn detergent) to no avail. Gouges were just too deep.
Through several emails with pictures, weihrauch had me send them the tube and graciously sent me a new tube
. A fantastic gesture from a fantastic company. Post about the rifle to come soon in the German gate.
