Title: Overheated my Compresssor and need advice please
Post by: Shadow Lizard on January 16, 2019, 08:30:50 PM
4500 psi pcp air compressor TUXING TXES031

I had forgotten to turn the water pump on, the compressor ran till the plastic bleed knob melted off.
Now no air comes out of the hose.

I checked to make sure Compressor was not damaged so i removed the hose from the unit and Air bursts out of just fine,
The Special O-Ring did not melt but when I attach the hose nothing comes out. as if something is blocking it, or the air may be so faint I can not even feel it

Try a new hose. You may have melted the inside of it.

Change the oil !!  Might want to remove the upper cylinder and check the piston seal.. O rings if they are present..

Never run without water pump. If it's not building pressure most likely piston rings is damage. Just cause you can't see the damage from outside don't mean there isn't internal damage. You have to take the whole compressor apart and check both 1st stage and 2nd stage piston seals. Aka low pressure and high pressure piston seals.

What if when i remove the Hose and I feel a huge amount of Air pressure coming out then what do I look for?

I'd guess that the low pressure rings are fine as they are steel and the cooling water doesn't cool the low side cylinder.

While I don't have any experience with your particular model, I did own a Tuxing with the larger head. I'm assuming that they are generally the same.

You could check if it is your hose if you have the small tampon filter by putting the foster fittings directly on it and dead heading the output to see if pressure builds.

If not then pop the gold cylinder off and change the high side rings. You should have gotten some extras when you bought it.

The gauge should have a dowty seal. The rubber may have melted and could be causing a leak. Pull the gauge and I believe there is also a spring and check valve under it. I'd suggest to change the seal and use your judgement on the check valve.

If that doesn't work, next step would be to remove the output nipple as I believe there is a Teflon seal seated behind it. There should have been extras provided as well.

Good luck and let us know.

PS, plugging the compressor and the water pump into a power strip will prevent them from not running together.

Hello
sorry i took so long as I been pretty busy.
Today I had done what  You said and there are 4 long screws that hold the top Cylinder down with O-Rings. 2 or 3 of them had split. I did not have any O-rings so I used Plumbers Tape for now.
I found a Broken Piston Green seal. I have to find out if I have any replacements for that

I will keep You up to date

Thank You

Thanks for the update. If you could post some pictures as well that would be a great help as well. There are so many different compressors that they may vary slightly.

I lost the Plunger that was part of the Meter :( and Can not find it now

Also it Looks like  I may need to order a kit as I don't have all the O-Rings that are damaged.

The Piston with the green O-Rings are ok now as1 was broken but replaced  .
The Side Rings are ok as well.

I believe when i put the Piston back in, the Green O-ring closest to the edge goes of the piston Faces up as it is sitting in the Compressor.I may have it upside down in the picture but that is only for reference .

Thank You

Thank You

It does look like it got hot. The steel cylinder is what the piston rides in. Looks like the 4 piston rings on the second stage should be changed out.

So that would be the Top cylinder i assume as the Bottom one has no Rings on it at all but only the Gasket.
Wonder where I can find a new plunger for under the gauge as I lost it.

I'd contact the seller you bought it from and ask if they sell a rebuild kit. Txfactory on ebay. I've felt with him before and has always been great to me.

My seller never contacted me when I first had this problem.

You can make your own. Do some Googling, there are more kits than this out there. https://www.amazon.com/d/Hydraulic-Seals-O-Rings/Loctite-112-O-Ring-Making-Kit/B00065T1C2 (https://www.amazon.com/d/Hydraulic-Seals-O-Rings/Loctite-112-O-Ring-Making-Kit/B00065T1C2)

Hi
I had my last breath trying to repair this and i am sure it is more simple then I think
I had put in new O-Rings and still no hi pressure comes out of this

If I was to sell this on Ebay someone may want to fix it I am sure as it is not anything Major.
also just want to make sure This piston is upside down Yes?

I would assume the shorter end has to face upwards and not down so what You see in the Picture is correct for the Piston yes?
