Title: Metallic Silhouette - Open & Scope Sights
Post by: Dr.J#13@AZ on January 05, 2019, 12:47:18 PM
I’m looking for a rifle to practice shooting both lever action (open sight) and rifle (scope) metallic silhouette.  What rifles, if any, are there that would allow me to mount both types of sights?  The simplicity of a springer is attractive, however, I’d prefer to use a hold similar to a conventional firearm, I.e., not artillary hold.  If push comes to shove, what PCP rifles would serve the purpose?  I’d appreciate your suggestions.  Thanks, Dr. J

Walther used to have a co2 powered lever action.
I don't know if it is still in production.

I first thought of the Walther as well, but with it's action, I don't know how you would scope it unless you did a scout mount, and that would mess with the iron sights...

There aren’t a whole lot of lever action pellet rifles. The Walther Co2 that has already been mentioned & the Sumatra are the only ones that come to mind.

The Sumatra comes with open sights, but IMO really excells with a scope. Plus, it has an adjustable power wheel. I use a 3x12 UTG on my .25 carbine.

You could look into an Air Arms MPR. I have two and they do well with both open sight and scopes ,hence the name “ multi purpose rifle “.
Hope this helps,
Mitch

Thanks for the suggestions, especially the MPR.  Action type is not important, accuracy is paramount.  Thanks again, Dr.J

Crosman Challenger 2009
Primarily diopter sights, but I think you can put a scope on the sight rail.
What I don't know is if you can put an open sight on the rifle.

Don't know why I thought you were looking for a lever action rifle.  ::)

 ;D ;) :D
There are "see thru" scope rings that allow you to use iron sights and a scope.
I have a friend who shoots "Cowboy Action", so I probably read more into it than you intended.
