This is my complete review of the Jefferson State Air Rifles HAWK in .22 caliber. I run the PCP through its paces and share the results with you first hand. I shot 10 different types of slugs and pellets to try and narrow down what this ole likes and you will see, it is pretty accurate with the larger pellets, slugs.
If you are going to shoot slugs, shoot 218's for sure as the barrel is not choked and needs to have that tighter fit which is clearly demonstrated by the grouping of the H&N 218 21gr Slug that was tested.

Pool....good questions....my .177 has yet to find a consistent sweet spot ammo. Best so far is JSB 13 Grains...... My groups look a lot like Haj's some same holes and then a flyer or two then right back to same hole then another flyer.....What are the rest of you seeing in the .177 as far as ammo that works best. Power is not an issue and using shims I can shot most any weight at most any FPS. I have some been gently asking JSAR about a chocked barrel and adjustable regulator for the Hawk .177 as well as what they are seeing as the best ammo for it. Haj is right it is a joy to shoot but I am currently still searching for a way to get the same type of accuracy at 50 yards that I was hoping for......stay tuned as I am going to remove the stripper and baffles and see what I get without them!

What came to mind immediately was the CHRONY attached to barrel/shroud ???
That will and likely did change up the barrel harmonics being what started as a FLOATED design .. no longer is as tested.

Yes and hand feed or mag feed were same

In doing this video I wanted to show the rifle as it shot out of the box with nothing being tweaked or modified other than thoroughly cleaning the barrel. I have since taken the barrel out and inspected the crown and the lead in. While the crown did not look too bad, the lead in was horrible. I will be working this lead in and I am also waiting on some addition 218 sized slugs and will see what I get. There are some photos of the stock crown and lead in below.

Yep, and there was no change in grouping.
What came to mind immediately was the CHRONY attached to barrel/shroud
When I shot the rifle without the shroud, I used the stand for the radar which allowed for an independent supported arrangement and the same group results.

Once again another great video! But can someone please explain to me how you can call this a 2 stage trigger? Not sure it qualifies if the sear does not move AT ALL during the first stage. Looks to be very similar to QB trigger which can be made into a fine trigger but certainly is not a 2 stage unit. Folks need to know what they are getting.

Ah ha... I cant wait to see the difference after fixing the lead in. Hopefully that will solve the accuracy issue.

Or what will it take to swap out barrel to a LW chocked 177? How would the air transfer holes work in new barrel instead of hawk 3 hole radial set up ?

The lead-in while ramped to the bore would need to be polished to remove all that serrated saw like roughness cause by the taper ream used at the factory.
There are many ways of improving this but they all require concentric manipulation which is all but impossible without a lathe.
Once I get a few HAWKS performing as they should I will be offering what resolutions worked as well as complete services for the HAWK.
Having a barrel turned to fit a HAWK can always be done and our barrel guys here on the GTA can offer better information.
A conventional transfer port which is directly across from the exhaust port of the valve will always be more efficient than a radial. The radial just affords an overall increase of transfer size without running the risk of having the projectile dive into the transfer port which in turn damages the lead and causes inaccuracy issue.

If your plan is to replace the barrel anyway... I would attempt the "fix" myself using ahmmmm non machinist approved methods. I have had success doing it the "wrong" way lol. ;D

I can see value in both a chocked and Unchocked barrel for my hawk which should allow it to reach it’s full potential and Travis’s vision for the Hawk
That said with GTA support who knows where I will end up with my Hawk!
She is a sweet ride!

The results here, are a bit ambiguous. Hanging the FX Chronograph on the barrel, effects the barrel's harmonics. This in turn affects the accuracy (grouping) of the various projectiles. If you want the better (accurate) results, it is best to have the FX Chronograph setting on the bench, or better yet, on a tripod. So placed, it should be set a few inches behind the muzzle, and slightly to the right of center (the microphone which triggers the chronograph, is on the left side of the unit).

Trust me the FX Radar had nothing to do with the groups you witnessed. The lead in was jacked up and it needed to be cleaned up with a ream. I shot that rifle with a naked barrel and it performed exactly the same. The FT/S reading of the FX Radar have been spot on accurate in the configuration you saw. I shot through a Caldwell G2, Lab Radar and the FX Radar and they were all within 6 FT/S of each other.
I am not arguing the fact harmonics are real, I am simply addressing the comments that the shots witnessed were the result of the Radar.

I was going to buy one until I watched this video. Looks promising, but I'll wait a while to the barrel issue gets fixed. I would like to have one in the future with a carbon fiber tank for hunting.

the barrel issues have been resolved is my understanding, JSAR refused to accept the new batch until it was resolved and IMO they did the right thing it took awhile

I hope so because it looks to be a really cool gun, especially with a carbon fiber tank. I've liked a light pcp in .177cal.
