I will be storing my Hatsan Votec 95 for awhile. I hear you are supposed to store them with the gas ram piston facing down to keep the stem lubricated.
Now is the muzzle down or butt down?
Sorry for the dumb question, I can not find a schematic of the gas ram version anywhere.
Thanks,
-Yogi

For the Hatsan Vortex rifles, the gas spring shaft extends towards the muzzle. Storage muzzle down should prolong seal life, if the seal dry-out myth is true. I'm a skeptic that modern synthetic o-rings/seals in these gas springs can dry-out or dry-rot in anything less than 15 years of storage. The Umarex/Ruger Air Hawk Elite2 TNT gas spring and Crosman Nitro2 and newer gas springs typically have the shaft extending towards the shooter. Storage muzzle UP should theoretically extend seal life in that configuration. I don't have any direct experience regarding other gas spring air rifles.
