Hatsan 95 vortex goes kaput

My buddies Hatsan 95 with the vortex poison has quit working. It's super easy to cock and barely has enough energy to push the pellet out of the barrel.
Sounds common enough. The seals on the piston have failed.
Will i need a spring compressor to take it apart? New seals and a hatsan pcp fill valve to recharge? Anything else why i have it apart?

General deburr. Polish the trigger at your own risk. If the gas ram has failed, you can send it to Hatsan for a new one, install a Benjamin GR or try and order the GR from Poleland.

Not positive but can one degas the piston while assembled, stock off ?
Reassembly could be a breeze if it can be charged in place

Yes, a HPA source or hand pump and Hatsan fill probe will be needed.
If the Vortex air spring is that weak, a spring compressor is probably not needed for disassembly. You will need a spring compressor for reassembly if the new/rebuilt air spring is recharged outside the action. Preload is only about 1/2", but it's a HEAVY 1/2"!
There is a de-gass procedure described online which can be done while still in the action, but I have not attempted it yet. Recently pressurized a Vortex air spring using a hand pump with only the stock removed so I know that is pretty easy.
I did not know a leaky Vortex air sping could be rebuilt with new o-ring seals. That does seem quite possible. Once you know the correct o-ring size(s), you should be able to order them from McMaster-Carr or possibly Amazon.
If the rifle has seen good use and you are performing a full tune-up, I suggest you inspect & replace the piston seal and breach seal if they show signs of wear. A debur, cleaning, and sparce moly (or krytox) treatment would be my preference once the rifle is opened up. I have a Mod95 VortexQE which is a really smooth accurate rifle when it's given a chance.
