Last night Hoosier Momma was still on her "eat it before it goes bad" rampage... She dug into the chest freezer. You know what she produced?Alaskan King Crab legs and a pound of Scallops.... WAit... WHAT???Where did THOSE come from?!"Cook these up" she said... Scallops were a little freezer burnt but I sprinkled with Old Bay and sauteed in real butter they came out fine, Steamed the crab legs and tossed a salad with Catalina and Blue Cheese. Ate until we were stuffed and then I finished the rest... waist not- want not. Tonight is frozen Jacks Pizza.
Had a Hunger Buster Jr burger from Dairy Queen. Was really tasty.
Will be making fruit leathers this weekend, pineapple and pears. Last batch of jerky I made was dipped in buffalo Wild Wing sauce then dehydrated came out yummy, goes great with a good beer like Fat Tire or Bue Moon.
DQ has a running Deal here... 2 double Cheese Braziers for $4. BUT when you order your have to say "I'd like 2 double Cheese Braziers for $4."Otherwise it is $6 something...

I used to buy the clearance fruits at a local super market, which was perfect for dehydrating since they were fully ripen, and about half price. I also used to enjoy making beef jerky with inexpensive cuts of beef. I've never tried fruit leather, but I may try it, just to see if my kids will eat it. You may have just motivated me to putting it to use again. My grown kids get a package of fruit leathers about every 3 months in the mail from me along with jerky. Especially during the holidays, they seem turned off by the big vendors in the market.Very easy to make (purée) it in a blender and pour it on a leather tray. I try not to ad any sugar depending on the fruit.

Tonight is a pot of beans with a ham bone (Plenty of ham on the bone), cheese cornbread and spinach salad. Crave this delicious meal in the winter.

Crave this delicious meal in the winter.Toby, that is one of my favorite meals Hoosier (Hill-billy Gal) Momma makes for us.I need to put a bug in her ear. As a rule, on day 3 of the left overs, she mixes in brown sugar and creates a whole new taste.... Like smoked pork-n-beans.
French fries with a cup of cheese dip on the side. So good.
