I used moly for years and it was fine. It's always had the problems it had, dieseling, drying out after years, temperature sensitivity, etc. I think much of it has to do with improper application (I've done it myself). These are known problems, and can be avoided, mitigated, or fixed. So it's fine fine. I recently switched to Krytox and the bent way I can describe it is the gun feels more slippery and smooth when I cock it. It's not a world changing difference. If you're good with Moly that's fine, if you want to switch go ahead. I do know that krytox feels like a it's never coming off once it's on there, and I haven't found anything that cuts it quicly, but soaking in acetone will eventually do it. But I just redid the krytox because it managed to pull up a bit of moly that was still adhered to the metal after a thorough cleaning that involved heavy duty solvents, so it was mildly contaminated. So they both adhere well. Once again not a world changing difference. They both work and use whichever you like. Just don't mix them and if you want to switch from one to the other, get ready for some heavy cleaning either way. I think the Krytox has a slight edge, so I'm sticking with it.
For the record, I don't now or nor have I ever used tar of any kind in my guns, just moly paste.
I saw any number of comments made about tar of any kind and why not to use it back when I was looking to tune my first rifle and why I never used it. Moly "chunking" to use your word usually means someone used entirely too much and why it likely did...lol.Used properly, which would be the keyword here, it's not bad stuff and works well. I've had guns back apart I've used moly on and never found any clumps or chunks
To each his or her own on what they choose to use in their rifles. I didn't start the poll and ask what I did to start lectures, arguments, or get overloaded with pictures, just ask members what they personally choose to use when tuning/lubing their guns.Your money, your rifle, your choice and moly is not a bad one
Thanks, Chase. Different wording but pretty much what I said up above myself
