Pay the extra bucks for the 2nd variant with the trigger block and 2 stage power if your a serious target shooter! That adjustable trigger is very Imprtant. The trigger is everything on any weapon! JMHO! dave
One thing that I would do for the 180 and similar Crosmans is modify the bolt so that it's a probe type. I recently did that with my QB-78 and found that it picked up about a hundred fps and is even more accurate. Perhaps because the gas is slapping the pellet harder, (thus seating the skirt more firmly) and that the pellet starts out seated more deeply than it was originally.Heresy, you say? Perhaps to the collectors, but the shooters seem to want more.Ride on,J~
That is a serious gain, where are they available? Do they also fit the 140 and 1400?Thanks,Rich
Do all tnd variant 180's have the power adjustment screw in the hammer mechanism?

My 1966 has the adjustment with an Allen Wrench and so does my 2nd Variant Sears 400. Not sure if all do! If your's has a hole in the cocking plunger and a 7/64" Allen fits at 3"00 O'Clock....... Twist away! dave
Heres my '65 180 with sling and DIY custom bolt handle. With the hammer spring djusted all the way down and on the low power setting it gets around 50 " good " shots, at 10-20yds I can still hit what I'm aiming at no problem so I consider that a good shot. The bolt handle is held in by a screw in the back of the bolt, so anything that fits can be locked in with that screw and be your new bolt handle.I made mine from a spoon handle.
Got my 180 yesterday! I pretty happy with it. Very interesting little gun! It's gonna take a little work but seems like it has never been taken apart. The screws are unmolested, the barrel band is perfect (not stripped out). The stock is perfect. The barrel has surface rust and needs to sanded and re-blued.It was missing the safety but I have one coming from Rick at Precision Pellet. He said he has them made and they are anodized aluminum. (Good to Know!)I also already have a seal kit from mac1. I was told it leaked and had a hiss, though it held pressure over night for me. The strange thing is it seems to release a 3 round burst when the trigger is pulled, it gives a "BRRRAT." I chrony'd it at 512 on high and 402 0n low. I have not messed with the power adjustment yet.The breech cap shows a 16 I'm guessing Jan. 1966. "A year older than me."Any thoughts on the "full auto effect" would be appreciated!Cheers,Rich
