I guess what I mean by letting the rifle recoil how it wants is that you need to let it recoil vs trying to manhandle and control the recoil. When you get your hold, trigger and follow through right every time the gun is basically recoiling the same every time.
Obviously other peoples experiences may differ. But don't let anyone tell you that the artillery hold is the only way to get good precision out of a springer. Experiment. See what works for you.

Preach what you will but I have several rifles, both springers and gas rams, that shoot better with a firmer hold vs the artillery hold. Like Bill mentions, Experiment, try several, see what works for you and the rifle you're shooting.
I've been shooting benchrest 308 call with a Reminder.700 for a long time , it's my one and only , never wanted to shoot another. For some reason with these air guns I haven't received my first one yet and I'm finding myself looking at the TX200 MK3. This could be a addiction sport.
