Daisy 35 accuracy tips with bbs?

I plan to do the "tape mod" to my new camo Daisy 35, but wanted to establish a base line accuracy with it bone stock first, so that I can tell if any mods I may perform are a measurable improvement.
My eyes are no longer shooting iron sights well, so I mounted the scope that came on my 1977xs on the 35 to do some bb test groups, I know the scope is holding me back some as it is not Adjustable Objective. I will order an AO scope soon as well as a Ronno trigger kit as soon as he gets them finalized.
So I started at 35 feet with Daisy standard bbs (from walmart) and also Marksman premium bbs....I had heard some folks really like Marksman bbs as they are slightly oversize and fit the bore tighter. I did find Marksman shoot faster out of my 35 but I was surprised MY gun seems to prefure the Daisy bbs for accuracy(so far) YMMV
At 35 feet my best groups where 3/4" with daisy bbs and 3 pumps...the Marksman mimicked the Daisy but groups size average 30% larger.
I switched to Pellets RWS "basics" and could get ragged 1 hole groups at 3 pumps.
I know bbs are not known for accuracy, specifically at longer range so I moved target to 24 ft and got 1/2" groups with bbs @ 3 pumps then moved in to 16 ft (standard bb gun range) and got ragged 1 hole groups slightly egg shape.
So my goal is to push the range out as far as I can with bbs. I don't hate pellets but I have other airguns for that. The 35 feeds bbs beautiful and is a joy to shoot. I am trying for max accuracy shooting fun targets around the yard. If I could get say.... 5/8" groups at 50 feet I would be thrilled....that may well be wishful thinking. Just thought I would post to see what accuracy others have gotten with bbs?
Side note: I did lube my new gun with RWS silicone chamber oil, and I likely over lubed it. I have been frequently shooting q-tips thru the bore in an attempt to keep the bore dry for best bb accuracy. It was really hot today here and I noticed my RWS oil seems pretty runny in this weather....I am wondering if that is why so many folks rave about 30w non detergent oil? I am wondering if it is a little thicker thus staying on the pump seals and less oil migration to the barrel? Just thinking out loud
I would welcome your best bb shooting tips!

Both of our 35s prefer Daisy Precision Max bbs from Walmart. I've never tried either of them on paper but we wear out a lot of aluminum cans and sweetgum balls with them. 1 to 3 pumps is about all we use.
