Beautiful, and great results. The scope looks good. Enjoy! Ps. I bought this one a few days ago. Tried to leave it, but failed.
Quote from: TerryM on September 05, 2021, 12:26:20 AM Had an interesting time with both my 400s today, trying different pellets. I put about 75 rounds through each. For whatever reason, the older gun tends to cycle more smoothly. It is also the harder hitting of the two, and loud. It only gets about 20 shots before velocity begins to drop off, my second variant gets more than twice that number, even at full power. H&N Field Trial Trophy, 14.66 gr. cycled well. The FTT Green lead-free 9.57 gr. fed very smoothly, they are made of tin, hard and slick. Fast, averaged 696 fps with some shots over 700 in the variant 1. JSB 16 and 18 gr. would not feed at all, to long, apparently. Gamo round balls work well but accuracy not so good. Didn't get great accuracy from the Crosman hollow points, either. The wadcutters I have been using are still the most accurate. A few years back, A of A had a special on "Webley Vermin Pells", 12 tins for 60 bucks. It was a bargain even with the shipping cost. I still have 7 tins. A rebranded Crosman pellet, I can routinely get 1/2" to 3/4" 20 yard groups with my scoped 400. The RWS MKs shoot about the same, slightly faster. The big surprise was the H&N 21 gr. slugs. They cycled well in both guns, averaged 540 fps in the older one, 500 in the second variant. I intend to try a scope on the variant 1 and experiment further with them. Just might convert it to bulk fill eventually. I've found the Crosman 400 is more versatile than I ever realized...Pellet shape and length are critical on these "self loading" guns . Manual loaders don't care a hoot about shoving a 34 gr. long chunk of lead down it's throat...these ones do! Bottom Line... The Crosman .22 Premier Ultra Mangnum 14.3 gr.Pellets are the "Gold Standard" for every Crosman ever made! If your "Self Loader" can't hancle these " You need to make some internal adjustments!.... Go with what ya' know!" dave

Go with what ya' know!" daveDave, are these Premium Ultra Magnum pellets different from the domed hollow points at Walmart? The Walmart .22 Crosman pellets don't shoot worth a darn, frankly. I've shot them in a number of rifles that will group certain European rounds in "one ragged hole", the Crosmans don't come anywhere near that. Granted, the imported ones are pricey (they cost me as much or more than .22 LR did just a few years ago), but I'm a stickler for accuracy. As Townsend Whelen once famously said, "only accurate rifles are interesting". Maybe I'll get a tin of these Ultra Magnums next time I put in an order from Pyramyd, I might be missing something... no pun intended.

The design of the boxes back then was nice; simple and stylish.
