" generally" smaller the OBJECTIVE glass, shallower will be the DOF ( Depth of field )Manufacturers however look to have any given optics system have a DEEP FOF which does not work well for us air gunners. While the Objective glass is a trend, it is not the final on what we get to choose from in SHALLOW DOF scope options.I'm old school and have held onto as well sought scopes that cater to "HUNTER" class "SHALLOW' DOF attributes. MTC/OPTISAN VIPER scopes in the 4-16x50 or 6-24x54 are IMO the gold standard of scopes for this class in the last 8 years or so.Having tried or viewed misc Hawke, Optisan, Athlon, Sightron and other manufacturers who's names escapes me ... not found a scope better than the obsolete Optisan / MTC VIPERS.IT is really sad !!!!!! it really is that while so many folks sell BLING scopes and fancy reticals, they all focus like LONG RANGE optics being vague in repeatable ranging estimation via parallax articulation for the game of AIR GUN FIELD TARGET when at 16X magnification.JMO,Scott S

I have a Falcon X50 10-50X60 for my WFTF rig; and due to bad knees, I am cobbling together a Hunter FT rig that will use an Optisan Viper 8-32X60 scope. Like Scott's post above, I really like the older Optisan Viper scopes. The 8-32X60 has a 16X mag marking, max magnification for Hunter, so it was a no brainer for me.What specific Field Target discipline were you considering?
