Turning silhouettes into spinners
« on: March 20, 2021, 03:40:51 PM »
I bought a few extra of the Metal Silhouette Targets to experiment on. My plan is to turn a few of them into spinners.

Proto type # 1

If these work well I will make more.
If not,  it's back to the drawing board.

Overall, not bad. I was thinking a better pivot tube,... but a nut accomplishes the same thing (with less contact = more spin).

Side to side control? The nut's threads might impart sideways movement?,.. maybe not. Don't really care?   ::)

Nice!

Oh I have the correct size rod to fit the nut. The rod I'm using just fits the nut so there won't be any wobble hopefully.  I just placed it on this smaller rod temporarily to paint.

I couldn't find a 1/8" x 3/4" flat bar in the metal bin.
That was my plan but I used the stiff wire till I can find some.

Might as well go all out....
Use all thread. As it spins it travels. Cut a C02 cart bottom off to make a bell. When the spinner reaches the end of the all thread it rings the bell. Put the same bell on the other end. Now go the other direction. Count how many shots to ring the bell. Least number of shots to ring the bell wins.
Top spinner travels left, bottom travels right.
Another game idea... take turns shooting. You top, opponent bottom. First to ring bell wins.

EI, EI, OH yeah !!!
