Howdy GA folks,
I'm thinking of putting together a daytrip style WMA squirrel hunt for myself and a few of my city friends (We will be eating what we kill, or at least I will). It may seem silly to put such a thing together for y'all who hunt on your own property all the time, but inside the city it's somewhat frowned upon to wander the suburbs with a rifle and I don't have any farmer friends to impose upon for general wilderness access.
I'm looking at WMAs close to Atlanta - Allatoona, McGraw Ford, Paulding Forest, Pine Log, and Sheffield seem to be the closest with small game seasons that begin Aug 15 with squirrels.
Any opinion on these locations?
Also, I'd be very interested in any guidance you have about WMA hunting, or what first time hunters usually forget/need to know/screw up. Feel free to assume we know nothing about airgun hunting other than you need an airgun and in this case a squirrel to aim at. I don't mind being a newbie, I'm just trying to be an informed newbie so thanks for your input.
Thanks!
