Empty breech indicator for TX200
« on: June 23, 2018, 12:51:31 PM »
I noticed that the club range I知 going to try field target at requires everyone to have empty breech indicators for their airguns.
I知 confused as to what would work on a TX200.
 Any idea痴?

check out these air gun chamber flags on Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/Chamber-Indicator-Safety-Flags-Yellow/dp/B005FMRZRY

Wouldn稚 that require cocking the rifle and leaving the underlever hanging loose?

Sorry if I misunderstood your original post.
Anyways, at my local gun range while shooting Airguns, I must have the bolt pulled back and show the breech is clear.
This is cocked hammer position, safety on and no pellets/slugs in chamber.

I shoot at a indoor air range and we use weed walker line. On underlevers and sidelever ,I just have it down the barrel. You really can稚 have the lever in the cocked position for transportation in my opinion. There must be other ideas,by all means please show me another way.

It's not really practical on a piston gun. And having the lever hanging with a cocked spring is not a safe condition while moving a piston gun.

I case the gun at almost all times. I un-case it pointing down range, after I am in the shooting box. And re-case it before getting up or leaving the shooting box.

In the near future, I plan on building an open range cart (from a jogging stroller) for moving my gun and equipment around the course. The muzzle will angle downward while in the cart. And there will be a muzzle block built into the cart.

Due to their design, chamber flags in spring airguns would be difficult.

Most ranges that are familiar with the TX's and other "lever guns" usually allow you to walk around "un-latched" ... Same with "break-barrel" guns.

The lever (barrel) will dangle but not drop showing that the gun has been fired (not cocked) and is not loaded, therefore, presumed to be safe.

Cheers,

Full length @ 6" ZIP_TIE closed down on some flagging or other BRIGHT indicator medium.
Cocking handle UNLATCHED and the zip tie slid into the hollow end of the handle.

Nothing go's into the barrel ... period !!

My suggestion & what i do when shooting my TX at matches requiring such.

Do they usually require guns that are cased to use an empty breech indicator?
I知 planning to take a soft case with me and keep it in the case when not actually shooting.

The AAFTA Nationals in Phoenix was the only match where I have seen a required empty breech indicator, but it was not required if the gun was cased.

When carrying a cased gun, you can't see the "indicator" so it serves no purpose.

The range I知 going to shoot at is the Rio Salado range in Apache Junction AZ. The matches are run by the Phoenix Airgun Club.
