Title: Made a stand to hold my silhouette targets
Post by: Lt. Dan on March 11, 2021, 07:27:37 PM
I made a stand to place my Air Venturi Metal Silhouette Targets. The silhouette targets are a chicken, pig, turkey and ram at 1/10 scale.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0160DF6KO/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0160DF6KO/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1)

I had some scrap metal and the amount of scrap determined the size.  I used up all but 4" of the scrap.

Looking good,  Lt Dan.

Will the silhouettes be tethered?
I'm considering something similar, but thinking to mount the silhouettes on hinges. Just not sure yet how to get them back upright.

Dan,

Looking real good. Lots of options with that setup.

Nice job dan.    That should hold up for years of shooting enjoyment.

Looks good; and just in time for the more shooting-friendly weather that's to come. :D

They are not tethered. I have them sitting on top of a little yellow tag that is attached to the silhouette using a short piece of nylon cord that are found inside paracord.
I've considered the hinge also but I haven't found a cheap source for them yet.

Thanks guys for your kind words.
Did I mention that I love cutoff saws. I had fun making this.

Dan,

Thanks Chris. When I find some more 1/4" rods I will have those just below the crossbars to attach spinners to. I found two rods yesterday and today I'm planning on attaching those. I'll need to cut the rods to length and thread the ends for a lock nut or something.

The stand worked  perfectly.  I set it up at 45 yards and placed the Rams and Pigs on the crossbars. Shooting the R9 .177 that is sighted in at 30 yards shooting H&N Field Target Trophy 8.64 gr pellets with 1.5" holdover I was able to knock the Rams off easily.  The pigs proved more of a challenge.  The wind had picked up to about 7 mph out of the east. I'm shooting due north.  Once I determined I  needed 1.5" to the left as well as 1.5" holdover it was just a matter of squeezing the trigger.

I have attached a photo showing how I have placed the little silhouettes on their attached tags. They trail about 3" behind the target slowing the distance traveled after pellet impact.  Also the yellow tag aids in finding the targets in high grass.

Thanks, I enjoyed making it.

I would never imagined that I would ever be able to pop those turkeys and pigs at 45 yards with my Beeman R9. Those are amazing rifles.
