Title: Setting up a new scope
Post by: Perazzi mx8 on June 02, 2018, 07:24:47 PM
My new to me scope is a 10-50X with a 16X line to comply with HC rules. What power should I use when marking ranges on the 6" side wheel?

If you are going to shoot hunter class, I would recommend 16X.  The reason is because sometimes a change in magnification can cause a slight shift in focus.  Although the focus ranging might be much more accurate at higher magnifications, the focus/range markings that you mark on the wheel at say 50X might not correspond to the same points on the wheel at 16X.

Most definitely the conventional wisdom.
