So, my birthday was last week and my wife was out of town and I got an email about free shipping on hatsan refurbs and one thing led to another and suddenly my bank account was $199 dollars lighter...

First off, I want to say that this gun is even more beautiful in person than it is online, and that is saying something! It really is 10lbs of hardwood and steel, with wild checkering to boot. I know my pictures dont do it justice, but I'm posting them anyway.
Next, I love the adjustable stock. Especially the adjustable height shoulder pad. It is a really slick sliding job and I adjusted it all the way down. I wish all my long guns had this feature.

Now to the range report.
I've only had the gun for about 24 hrs, but I've put about 100 pellets through it, and all I can do is smile. This gun is a shooter! I really cant believe how nice it is.
Before I get in to it, I just want to say that this is my very first break barrel, but not my first airgun by any means. I've got a 1377, 392, mrod and 2 prods. I've also got a bunch of powderburners and bb guns. I say all this only to provide some context for what I'm about to say...
This gun is not hold sensitive, and this gun can be made to have a fantastic trigger. Let me explain.
Out of the box, the trigger was kindof ok. Not as heavy as a Red Ryder, but pretty close. And a little creepy on the second stage. I shot 500 rounds through my prods yesterday, so my expectations may have been a little high, but I was a little disappointed in the trigger on arrival. So last night I read up on the quattro, and tonight, when the kids were asleep, I went out to the garage and took a dremel to that first screw.
And that was that! She now has an incredibly consistent, dreamily light trigger. I'm not kidding when I say it is better than my prod. So after the first test fire, I hunkered down in my lawn chair at 10 yrs (I know it is too close but that is all the range I had available) and fired off 10 rounds.

Obviously, I'm not trying to impress anyone with my accuracy here, but I am really happy with the gun, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in a powerful open sight hunter. Stay tuned... next week I should be able to update this post with a field report, as my buddy has a squirrel problem he needs taken care of
I might even include my recipe for squirrel al'orange

Vortex...The shot cycle is not harsh, and recoil is almost unnoticeable. I need to chrony it tonight. Thanks for the birthday wish! I just turned 38, but I've got more toys now than I did as a kid

Well, I clocked a few rounds of cphp through the chrony, and it looks like she is making just under 26 ft-lbs... not bad for a springer!

Learn the quattro trigger pull. It makes the felt pressure of the trigger about a pound lighter.

So I finally got outside to shoot at 30yds. After shooting a couple dozen rounds offhand, I threw up a fresh target to shoot some groups. Unfortunately my wife got home sooner than expected so I only got off three shots, but here she is:
Quarter sized 3-shot group at 30yds with open sights! I was sitting in my camp chair with the forearm resting on my crossed legs so things might improve with a proper bench rest, but I'm pretty stable from that position, so it's probably pretty close.

Haha, worse
I spent the weekend shooting, forgot about the kids, burnt dinner, let the pipes freeze over, lost the dog, starved the pet fish... but the rifle is tuned and sighted in
In other news, now that the wife left me and the kids ran away with the circus I have more time to shoot.

And you can replace your family photos with those fine targets and chrono numbers! And don´t worry about the dog, they come back, they always do, waggin their tales and probably have some other dog(s) in company
