Here is a pic of my rivet replacement probe. It is about .085 longer than the magnetic probe and it does cover the BB port. My first couple of tries using the rivet were not successful as the thin probe was not long enough to push the pellet in the breach far enough ..... Thank you Cobalt327 for pointing this out !!!
I find this modification very useful in the loading of pellets in that I put the pellet on the loading tray and the pellet head tips into the the breech very easily, I have not been getting flipped / turned around pellets or pellets that want to go into the BB port since this modification, loading the 880 has been a thorn in my side for a while. No more using a straw as I was before as the pellets now go in the bore without acting crazy !!
I have been using the BB loading area as a storage for lead balls and I can very quickly load a lead ball into the chamber for a follow up shot - by keeping a few lead balls in a easy to get to pocket and putting one in the loading area ahead of the probe ... They quickly just roll into the chamber ... I really like this. When I was using 177 cal. lead balls with the magnetic probe it was very easy for two+ lead balls to roll out of the BB port and into the chamber ..... that doesn't happen now ; - )
Here is a pic of the rivet probe extending past the BB port.
