AR20FT High pressure regulator

Does anyone have experience with the high output regulator P/N 466.62 for the Hammerlli AR20FT? The regulator, hammer spring, and a so called pin is used to bring these guns up to "I think" 25fpe, factory says 1030 fps but does not list the pellet weight. My question is about the "pin", looks like it fits in the spring end, but what end of the spring does it go on? Pictorial diagrams do not show the pin.
Going to check velocity before and after regulator installation hoping for 900-950fps with 10.34gr JSB, we'll see.

Fritzalee,
I also bought the high pressure regulator for my AR20ft. I never got near the advertized velocity of 1030 fps. Hammerli might be using 7 grain wadcutter pellets to get that speed. I got to 890 fps with 7.9 Crosman Premier Light pellets. I used the shim and placed it inside the striker end of the spring. I was getting about 14 FPE. I never tried heavier pellets.
I get a lot more accuracy and over 100 shots with the 780 fps regulator.
Do a search for Joel Gupta. He has posted his results with the same regulator setup.
He won this years Crosman All American Field Target event in Hunter PCP division with the Hammerli.
He was getting 40 shots per fill. He modified his air tank with a foster quick fill adapter and manometer.
Regards,
Leo G

Thank you Leo, You answered my question, the people I bought my AR20FT from had never had one apart. I use mine for Bench Rest outdoor 25m, along side some very high end guns, if I can get competitive with this inexpensive piece, I'll be happy. I am looking for a flatter trajectory with a heavy pellet for less interference from the wind.

Fritzalee,
You will not have a problem competing with an AR20ft. The accuracy is there. You just need to find the right pellet for it. For me, it ended up being AADF 8.44 grain 4.51mm pellets followed closely by JSB Exacts 8.44 grain 4.52mm pellets. One modification I highly recommend doing is removing the aluminum fore end shroud completely and replacing it with a block of wood especially made for bench rest shooting. Free floating the barrel makes it more consistent with no possibility of shifting point of impact. I designed a rail using 3D modeling software and had it 3D printed in nylon material.
With the faster velocity, you might need to clean the barrel more often. Since I shoot less than 800 fps, I never had to clean the barrel to maintain accuracy.
Good luck,
Leo

I have the 1030 fps installed. I did not put the spring shim in. I was getting 925 fps with JSB Exact 10.54 gr 4.52 mm pellets until I adjusted the flow screw to slow things down to about 875 fps. I get 45 shots at that fps with less than 1% variation before drop off. I'm very pleased with the gun's accuracy. I clean it every 100 shots by shooting a cotton plug.

Leo, and Jeff,
I am a little late responding, to many projects.
Leo, you and a few others have suggested that the barrel be free floated, one young HFT winner had his shroud machined off and uses a Rowen Eng. air stripper, I will try for accuracy with and without the shroud and forearm.
Jeff, My gun gave me 766.9fps with the JSB 8.44, and 709.1 with the JSB 10.34, after the high output reg. installed, she went to 927.2 fps with the 8.44, and 860.5 fps with the 10.34, haven't tried adjusting the flow screw.
Next up is the accuracy test, WX man said it might get down to 90degs tomorrow.

Friztalee,
You can buy another hammer or striker spring if you still have low velocity concerns. I just replaced mine and it restored the velocity back to above 780 fps with 8.4 grain pellets from a velocity of 750 fps.
