I need to make another batch of buttermilk biscuits. I eat a fair amount of biscuits. You guys know how to make buttermilk, right?1 cup of milk + 1.5 tablespoons of white vinegar. Let it sit for 10 minutes and its ready to be mixed in w/ the 2.25 cups of flour you will have cut 1/3rd of a cup of lard into.
Our Church group had "Street Tacos" Chicken, Pork and Beef, beans and rice, chips and sweet corn on the cob tonight. One of my grandsons did all the cooking. And then we had a Movie night. We watched "God Bless the Broken Road".This was the first time we ate together in eleven months I think, it was great. Our group was small and we had plenty of space and out of the group there were just two people that didn't have Covid-19 and recovered in the last three months. So no worries.
Wild rice casserole and sautéed chicken breast, ghirardelli brownies for lunch today. Coffee for breakfast....

I find it ok. I did one time used a box brand, made by Red Lobster, and that was really good, but can't find them any more. May have to try a made from scratch version, at some point, soon.

The consumer still has to add milk, salt, and baking powder if the box/contents are out of date and the chemicals / preservatives aren't worth a flip.Ever use Clabber Girl brand, double acting, baking powder?Their gimmick is to put a recipe for 'Old Fashioned Biscuits' on the back of the can. I've used that recipe for at least a generation. Only difference is I use buttermilk. I also use self rising flour most of the time too, so no need for baking powder.
We're not a big biscuit family, so on occasions we'll grab the premade dough type from the refrigerated section. It's simple and quick for the workday dinner. The Red Lobster box mix, was purchased only one time, just for out of curiosity. Gotta say that it was pretty tasty. However, there are less than desirable ingredients found within.
Trouble is, (in addition to the chemicals/preservatives), they also have high fructose corn syrup in them. Everyone on Earth should stay as far away from HFCS as they can get.I hope you use real butter whenever you eat biscuits or rolls (or any kind of bread, really). It makes a big difference in taste. Myself, if it doesn't say USDA on the package, I don't buy it.

Just finished a large bowl of matzo ball soup. Chased it with coconut water. Debating on the homemade brownies right now.
