I was using CPHP 14.3gr before servicing my 392P’s. Both shot okay for dime size groups out to 30/40 yds. I serviced all my guns using the alcohol wash & all guns showed marked improvements in fps/fpe including these, 645 fps. Now I can’t hold a tight group. Switched over to another load I have, CPD-UM 14.3gr. My thought was less drag but still the same grain. Improved some but not what I was hoping.
I think the obvious solution would be to switch to a heavier load. I’m leaning towards anything JSB simply because of quality. I noticed Pyamyd has JSB’s in 18.13gr & something called a Jumbo Master 25.39gr, probably too heavy.
My question is; has anyone experimented with any of these loads or maybe other’s that performed well for you in your 392?

Marty, I don't shoot anything lighter than JSB 18.1g in any of my pumpers or PCPs. Granted, I don't have a 392, but my Racine 342s really love, believe it or not, 28g Eun Jins. Could be that your barrel just needs to be "leaded in" again. I'm pretty sure accuracy will improve for you. It's not like you did anything to the barrel.
Timmy Mac once told me "Heavy & slow is the way to go". Makes sense since PCPs & pumpers are more air efficient with heavier loads.

That certainly makes a whole latta sense Dave. A heavier load but just as important leading the barrel. Didn’t give that a bit of thought. Right now the barrel is so slick the skirt has nothing to grab onto. Think I’ll pick up a tin of both heavier loads.
Thanks!

I primarily shoot the 18gr jsbs in my 392s but also shoot the 25.39 gr. Monsters. All my ben Sher guns seem to prefer heavier pellets. I only shoot 14.3 gr in my 1322.

My 392P also likes the Eun Jin's can't recall which on it likes more the 28 or 32 grain. For general pesting i use the 18 JSB.

Thank you Rob! Looks like the consensus is strong all accross the board. I look forward to trying the heavier loads. Man are these rifles going to have some serious knock down power with these heavier loads.

Don't bypass the JSB 15.89's
while not much heavier than the Crosman's the quality makes them shoot the best in my. 22 pumpers including the 392P

I tried out the 18gr JSB's & am very pleased with the results. Will also try the 25gr monsters. If these work as well as the 18's, both would make excellent hunting loads.
Thanks again for the tips.

Hey Marty,
Did you have to increase the number of pumps with the heavier 18g pellet or change your sights elevation, or did it not effect the POI?

Sorry Scott I couldn't shoot with any kind of consistancy with the 14.3's to gauge one way or the other.

Marty,
Did you ever get around to trying the 25 grain JSB's?
So far in my 392P I've tried Crosman domes (14.3), Hatsan vortex 14.66 grain, Older German-made Beeman heavy's (~21.5 grains), RWS Hobby 11.9 grains, and the 18.13 grain JSB's, and the only ones that are deadly accurate are the 18.13 grain JSB's. (I cleaned my barrel when I got the gun, before ever shooting it)
So, I'm definitely going to get some more of those, but am very interested in the heavier 25 grain ones if they shoot well. Just wondering if anyone besides Flint has had good luck with them
I like the idea of heavier pellets and I'd be tempted to try the Eun Jins but the JSB's are cheaper and yet still excellent quality.

I like you had a strange thing happen with my 392.
When I first got it I tried several different pellets ranging from 14.3 to 21.4 grain.
It seemed sorta ok with the crosman 14.3 CPHP's from the tin, but not really stellar accuracy.
It really loved the soft lead pellets by JSB and H&N and I had heard good things from others about the RWS Superdomes.
But my gun never really liked them at all. No matter how many pumps I tried them at.
So the gun settled on 14.66 grain H&N FTT's as its best pellet.
And I'm talking about cloverleaf accuracy at 30 and 40 yards.
So as time went by I ran out of the FTT's and decided to give the JSB's and the Superdomes another try.
Well the JSB's were just like before, no real change at all.
But the Superdomes blew me away with "pellet on pellet" at 30 yards easy!
With 6 pumps she pushes them at right at 600fps. Never really ever needed all 8 pumps as she does all I need with 6. Plus it's easier on the gun.
I guess what I'm saying is, don't give up completely on any pellet. After a certain period of time it might be worth going back and trying those "ify" pellets again and see what happens. You just might be like me and be very surprised with the outcome.
Good Luck and keep your pivots oiled

Thanks for the info Ray. Will certainly go back & try the old stand by's in time.
Absolutely Randy. Haven't tried the 25's yet although I fully intend to. If Billy says they work I don't doubt it for a minute. That thing should be capable of delivering one heck of a punch. As soon as I have info on them I will pass it along.

Please report back to us Dave if you do find time to try them out. I am hopefull they work as well as the 18's. Obviously the trajectory will change but as long as they shoot straight adjustments can be made to compensate for longer shots.

Marty, that is on my to do list for this weekend.
Weather forecast looks good the weekend, upper 70s-lowers 80's, sunny, & only a slight chance of rain.
