That Litschert is worth some money, that is a especially nice one. Given the period of the gun and the scope I would call it good, how can you top that? The scope is a piece of history as well? The cool part of a polished example is noone would think that they would have made just about every part out of brass unless they see it this way. In many ways it is more pleasing, striking? than a unaltered example. I am a absolute stickler that my collectable guns be in original condition, but this gun is my one exception to that rule.

Terry, Steve ... thank you for the kind words. I had the J4 ear marked for a rimfire rifle ...it just looks so much better on this Crosman though. The rifle is holding air well and I hope to have the time this weekend to plug the holes in the receiver.
Steve, I understand what you mean by original condition on vintage rifles. I have a fairly extensive Mossberg .22 rimfire collection specializing in Spiegel Catalog rifles. I love honest wear and patina/age from use. I only repair broken or remove rust to prevent deterioration. When you mentioned what it may look like polished up ...it juts kind of made sense to finish what had been started. I am glad I did though. I think I will hold onto this rifle for a long time and enjoy it.
As a side note I saw a local ad listing for a rummage/yard sale and over 100 BB/Pellet/Air Soft rifles being sold. I stopped by the address and the lady holding the sale did not exaggerate. I have never seen so many Daisy springer BB guns in one place. Well over 75 of those alone along with a few Crosman, Benjamin, and Sheridan's. Many different German and Italian air/spring rifles and pistols also. Everything was vintage and in some cases rust buckets. I don't know much about the Daisy spring/air rifles unfortunately. I was able to pick up a couple of Sheridan's and Crosman's though. So I have my next projects already /sigh ...these air rifles are almost as bad a Mossberg .22's !
