An odd Diana 23 ?

It looks like a Diana 23 from milbro minus the spot welded rail. Also there is no serial number, caliber, or date stamp. And I bought it.
here is a link to the auction

This looks to be a 1930s-era gun; sometimes there's a date stamped into the wood at the butt end. Note the lack of a separate knurled rear cap on the tube which seems to show up on the post-war Model 23.
Here's a catalog from Danny Garvin's excellent Vintage Airguns Gallery, showing one that sure looks like yours:

It's a nice example, good find. From the pics the wood looks rather like walnut instead of beech? That would be a bonus.

thanks, it did not occur to me that it may be a prewar rifle. there is a date on the the stock it's 1 38 and looks to be walnut.

If it's one of those "Made in Scotland" Dianas, I've owned two, and a friend owns another.
All were/are very poor shooters and not near the equal of the German guns.
Hoping that you got a good one. My 23 was a Daisy marked example in .22. Clocked just over 400 fps, but wouldn't group for squat.
Let us know how it shoots!

Pretty sure Milbro guns were made in Scotland on German machinery, post-war.
Could be wrong, but even if it is Scotch, doesn't mean it won't shoot!
Edit: Saw the pics, that aint a Scotch Milbro👍
