Crosman 120 linkage repair

I just bought this Crosman model 120 at an antiques mall. The wood is very good (no damage)and there are no missing parts. The pump linkage is broken so I was able to buy it for $15. I haven't checked to see if it holds air but I'm assuming that it doesn't. I see this model was made 1952 - 1954. Is there a Crosman junkyard where I could buy a used linkage? Do you think a welding repair is possible? Thanks, Al

I'm having some trouble removing the pins that pin the linkage to the barrel (tube under the barrel). Both ends are larger than the hole. Is one end a nut and the other end a screw head? I don't want to force anything without knowing. Also, I can't drive the pin out of the pump handle. Should it be driven harder or drilled out? Thanks, Al

Nice find!
That break can be welded. A TIG torch or oxy-acetylene will do it. It will have to be heat treated afterward. It probably won't be cheap to have done.

Thanks Goose, that is encouraging. That gives me an option if I can't find a replacement. Before I can weld or replace, I'll have to figure out how to remove the linkage from the rest of the gun. I discovered that the gun will pump up and hold pressure. It has to be cocked before it gets pumped up or it won't take air. I would like to get some information on how to remove the pins. Thanks, Al

I'm not sure about the pins. Measure and see if one end is bigger than the other? Some are that way.
The part to be welded is folded and heat-treated sheet metal and will need to be fixed by someone with experience. That's a delicate type of metal to work with.
I'm not sure about the pivot pin, but others will chime in with info on it.
That's a cool gun and it would be nice to see it back in service.
Luck,
J~

I don't want to cause permanent damage to the gun so I'll have to figure out how to cut the two pins. That seems like the best "DO NO HARM " approach. I'll post back when I'm done so the next person with the same problem can get an answer to the question. Thanks, Al

I made a repair on a 140 pump link that was trashed by making a spline.
In my case the purpose was to reinforce and rebuild it.
It was used on a disco tube based 22 cal pumper that makes 1034 FPS with 20 pumps.
You can cut some filler metal and then have it welded.
Should be stronger than new.

I had a pump arm with holes on one side so I did this:
To remove the pins I slotted the pin with a hacksaw blade and pryed the pin over with a screwdriver..
Repeat the process until you can grab it with pliers and pull it out.

Thanks Tack Driver 10, now I should be able to remove the pins and repair the linkage with a spline. Since the linkage didn't break at a pivot point, that should make a solid fix. Thanks, Al

The pin going through the compression tube seems to be peened and factory knurled at both ends. The pin going through the forearm looks like it could driven out except it seems to be bulged in the center of the linkage. I'll know better when I get the thing apart. Al

I cut the pin out of the forearm and removed the broken part of the pump linkage. You can see how close to the edge of the steel the pin hole was drilled. It's no wonder that was the break point. The pin could easily have been drilled in the center of the linkage. I am going to make a spline with the pattern shown in the picture. Al
