I never posted a thread on this one? A Crosman 760 Powermaster variant 4, built January 1977. Metal receiver with dovetails molded in and the heavier, more detailed ABS stocks. Those ABS stocks give it a real nice heft, compared to the lighter, thinner styrene. Accurate for a smoothbore too! Donnie Reed at Facebook and Youtube's ALL THINGS AIRGUN gave it to me, knowing I like them. Both being Admins, we got along great straight away. I think it looks great with the period-correct, 70's Weaver Dual X V22-A scope. 3-6x18mm at that. I noticed Ted's Hold Over has the 2100B with the Wide field scope on it I almost bought. I think that one's a Redfield, though? Same Dual x reticle, called a, " Plex" these days. So, anyway, here's some pics...
The styrene stocks are definitely lighter, not heavier. I have both, and the ABS stocked rifles are heavier. Although the variant 4 has the die-cast receiver as well. With the 70's Weaver scope, it has some heft to it I like. I need a new butt stock for the 760-B Pumpmaster 10/90 I've wrapped up for my youngest son's birthday today. These stocks on this 760-B are styrene, but lighter colored like the ABS ones. Fooled me on EBay with seller's pics. So a nice set of ABS stocks would be nice!
Nope. The styrene stocks I have in that darker brown color are hollow and have a but plate. Hold on, I'll get a pic of the one from the 760-D.
Well, you may be right about the type of plastic. Hard to say 100% at this point. Just the way they list the descriptions on the Crosman build list when this or that one was built can be confusing? Anyway, I changed my mind about the gloss black Rustoleum for the 760 variant 4's receiver housing. Yesterday at Wally world, I found this Rustoleum semi-gloss black paint + primer.
I see another gun rack in your future!!! You look like you are maxed out as it is.I've got several of these 760-ish rifles, and as far as I know none of them work. Some with wood 'tootsie roll' like forestock, all have plastic butt stock I think. Maybe a Western Auto Revelation or two mixed in. Is any particular variant better or more desirable than the others?
