The adventure starts about six years ago when I got my .22 Scorpion. It was loud, from the factory. I put a TKO on it and it was still very loud. I put a Huma regulator in it, and did some valve and port work on it, still really loud. (Jsb 18's @870fps) I put a Danny FL sumo on it, not much different, still loud. I recently pulled the bolt back and it was stuck so hard I had to tighten up the cocking handle to pull it. It was oiled and thought to be fixed. Then a month later or so I went to shoot it, and the whole bolt came out, I broke the banjo bolt. I dumped all the parts out and found a tiny, broke, green o-ring ( like the hand pumps have) . I can't figure out where it came from or had been hiding. I put a new bolt in the banjo and luckily got it together again. ( B.S.A.'s must be into puzzles also) I tuned the gun back, and it is so quiet now. I really can't see extra power, but it is really nice to shoot now.

I mix with the fellows from across the pond on a forum. Many have a solid distane for the BSA. They claim it was everyone's favorite , then all of a sudden there you are. They are very country proud and Bsa was thier standard bearer, seems like that has changed. The guys are a very solid good bunch , same as our yanks.Funny how times change.

The B.S.A. is like a puzzle to take apart and put back together. That is its biggest downfall I think. For a small gun it has power, three magazines per fill. I don't think anything can shoot 18 grain and less JSB's better.

I like BSA PCPs, good barrels and the design is also rather good. As for making them quiet they are actually one of the easiest PCPs as there's room for a big shroud and hammer debounce device is easy DIY. I think your loudness issue may have been missing probe o-ring.

I've never used a green o-ring on my probe, and it did have a few different o-rings on the probe since I've owned it. The bsa magazine is hard on them. I've polished the magazines, but its still hard on them.

Pending calber ( Thus size o-ring ) Using a POLY 70D gives a LOT more durability to the probe o-ring.
I still have and shoot 3 BSA's. One is a older Scorpion single shot MODIFIED to be my Field Target PISTOL ..... Second a BSA/GAMO ( AKA Sportsman HV ) ..... Third a Modified GoldStar SE.
ALL have Regulators, SSG hammer debouncers installed. Very quiet and very air efficient !!!
