I'm surprised that noone has rigged up a simple intercooler for these diy compressors...they would be able to be run faster and more safely.

Surpluscenter.com has lots of stuff to use for making stuff like this.
Gear reducers, 80:1 :
http://www.surpluscenter.com/Brands/Worldwide-Electric/Aluminum-Right-Angle-Worm-Gear-Reducer-30-mm-C-D-80-1-56C-Input-Flange-Hollow-Bore-Output-13-1578-80-56C.axd
Output shaft:
http://www.surpluscenter.com/Gear-Reducers/Right-Angle-Gear-Reducers/Aluminum-Reducer-Accessories/Single-Output-Shaft-For-Size-30-WWE-Aluminum-Reducer-13-1578-S.axd
56C face mount motors:
http://www.surpluscenter.com/Electrical/AC-Motors/AC-Motors-Face-Mount/1-2-HP-1800-RPM-115-230-Volt-AC-56C-TEFC-Leeson-Motor-10-2698.axd
With this motor and gear reducer you would get ~22.5RPM
A machine shop can help make a frame and mount it all up.

My first post (after introduction) and this has been a big help. I have been looking at all the "automated" hand pumps on the internet, but could not find a good source for parts. I think I might go this route
