Don't paint it green!!

After so much success with my new little disco, i was bound to do something wrong. So when i sat down this afternoon with my new 22 line per inch checkering tool and sketched out some simple grip panels, little did i know how ugly i was getting ready to make my stock
Evidently cheap stock mystery china stocks are to soft for 22lpi tools and my checkering turned to mushy lines scratched into my grip. I began drinking crown and coke and soon my situation became much more serious as i started carving the checkering in with an exacto knife, then messed up the forearm with carvings so as to equal out the damage.
After chopping the stock up pretty well, i decided to forgo the traditional oiled stock that was originally planned as it would show the sub 3rd world checkering way to much. So whats my favorite color hmmm, got some green stain left over from some project.. why not. So it's green and not very pretty. It is my new tractor rifle.
Lucky i've got anther stock coming for it, so it's not permanent but i guess my words of advice for anyone down the road thinking coloring their stock would be "Don't paint it green!" J

i don't know... it's pretty bad..
I'd hate to let you guys down though, this might be worthy of consideration if i ever go into the stockmaking and checkering business
Let me see if i have a pic thats legible of the checkering, the stock is drying now and i have to decide if a coat of poly would help or not, maybe the 2 chemicals would cause a reaction..
or maybe it would get shinier and the ugly green would be even uglier.. i don't know, any advice?? Brown spray paint perhaps? I'll post a pic of the monstrosity once i get it back in the stock, just cuz you wanted it

LOLOLOL omjeez i am dying
Dean you kill me, sometimes i just think your name and bust out laughing
Guys, Ed(shadow) has offered to save me, i'm going to ship the stock to him to fix up as he chooses, i've a factory disco stock on the way and as soon as it's here i'll get it off for some "magic". Till then, i'm scared to show ya'll the pics. Scared i am.
It's BAD. I can't believe i did that, or even tried. I will say that the key to this is more green, and then some more. I'm on my 3rd coat and it's getting better.
I promise to post some pics tonight but i swear i can't post any of the half finished checkering.

I still got to give you a thumbs up bro for trying and that's how we learn.
We'll get it squared away with some hide and seek color.

Well its at least as good(bad) as my first try. I tried with the $ 29.00 Cummins truck gun and it was horid to say the least, but my son took that little gun and sold it to a guy for almost double the bucks so the beauty must be in the eyes of the beholder.
