Good luck finding something that doesn’t turn into a nuisance to maintain. The only advice I have is… DO NOT plant bamboo. 😁
There is no replacement for even a small forrest. It absorbs sound (and hydrocarbons) like a sponge. My back yard would have hundreds of bird visits every day. I have a small creek that the birds would drink from. I kept my bird feeder stocked. I cut all of the low limbs once about 15 years ago. I noticed that almost all of my birds disappeared! I watched them. On a hot day in the summer it's really a chore for them to fly out of the creek into branches 10 or 12 feet above the creek. OK, NOW I understand.Birds need trees. ( DUH )The noise from a busy street is greatly reduced if I can just leave that canopy as it is.Plant some trees. 🌳🌳🌳Rake the leaves in the autumn. 🍂If you have enough shade, you won't need to cut the grass.I feel for you. Your forrest has dwindled away.Hunter
