ProSport - First Shot Fliers

Well, I'm up to just over 250 shots through the ProSport. She's breaking in nicely, really smoothing out. Yesterday I noticed an interesting phenomenon. After the rifle had set a while (couple hours, perhaps?) I picked it up and shot it again. The first shot was low and to the left about an inch at about 8 o'clock. The next four shots formed a nice, tight group. A while later, after taking another break, (it's nice having the office in the house where I can take shooting breaks occasionally) I shot another five shot group. Once more the first shot was low and to the left at about 8 o'clock, this time only about a half inch from the group. Then it happened a third time, another half inch flier, low to the left. I was shooting some cheap Crosman "premier pointed" that I'd picked up for blasting purposes in introducing new shooters to the game. Cheap is good as they can't hit anything anyway so less accuracy is not too big of a problem. Since I'm mostly shooting short range with an eye to smoothing out the action by use, cheap is good. Anyway, all pellets through the rifle so far have been lubed with Slick 50, including these. I read somewhere that the low, out of line flier on a first shot is common with the ProSport. Is this true? This morning the first shot may have been a bit low but only opened the group less than 1/4". But this morning I was playing with the AirArms Diabolo Field pellets again.

I'm a peaceful man and prefer the pursuit of peaceful sports. Those involving teams and balls of any sort tend to be deleterious to one's body and promote violence by both spectators and participants. The shooting sports, however, tend to promote self control and are peaceably participated in by those who know that their greatest challenge is their need to continually hone their own abilities.

I think it is common with a spring piston gun. All of mine come out of a 60-70 degree house and go outside to 90+ degrees and it takes a shot or three to get on target. After that everything smooths out and she is nailing the bull. I could be wrong as I usually am.

First off would LOOSE THE LUBE on pellets, clean bore thoroughly removing any oil trace from pellets shot.
While lubing pellets can help some rifles, your PS having a LW barrel and lower power/speed of pellets going threw it, lube will IMO cause you more negative issues than gain you accuracy or leading prevention.
