Englsih Patriot .25 - I finally own one...

It's like new, about 40 - 50 pellets old. I can see why so many of you make a fuss about them. They are a beautifully made rifle. I never even looked at it before buying it. He told me, over the phone, that it was in "X" condition and I believed him. I mean, how can you not tell the truth about one of these. He arrived just a few hours ago and I happily gave him the money, not cheap, but a bargain,, given their availability. I was prepared for a monster of a rifle but was mildly surprised to get a not overly huge unit. Sitting side by side with my Cometa Fusion they are basically the same size. The Fusion having the larger stock, while the Patriot has the longer barrel. It's amazing how similar they both look from underneath as they both lean against the wall. The Patriot, however, is not a light rifle, far from it, but I'll bet my Webley Domin8tor is heavier. It weighs just on 5 kg (11lbs) with a Hawke 3-9x40 AO. Now that's heavy. I'd say the Patriot is not too far behind but definitely lighter. Nevertheless, "heavy" it IS... It is very nicely balanced though for a big rifle and despite the weight, it's remarkably easy to hold steady - for a short while. I am not a giant and found it quite easy to bring up and shoulder. It is well designed in that respect...
As far as looks goes, this rifle will be hard to beat in the great looks category, very hard. It has lovely timber in the stock,, walnut,, and while I've seen more exiting character in timber grain for walnut, it is still very subtly elegant and has lovely ripples of light and dark strains through the butt and pistol grip area. The cheekpiece is not unlike that of an expensive centrefire rifle, better that any other air rifle's that I have ever owned. The cylinder and barrel are blued to perfection. This one has a slight blemish (rubbing mark) ontop of the cylinder, very slight, about 3/16" (4-5mm) in dia but hey, it is second-hand. Apart from that, the bluing and metalwork is beyond compare. Lovely and smooth to the touch. There are no real rubbing marks that would suggest that this rifle has had much use at all. It still looks new'ish. I am going to cherish this baby... If I ever had any doubts about spending this much money on a rifle of this nature, they have been tossed out the window in the past few hours...
Worth it...?? Oh Yeah...

Yes, definitely put up some pics.
Would be nice if you take some good close shots of the wood.
I bet that beast will wear you out at the range with the cocking cycle, though.

Ok, I'll post some pics hopefully today... Actually guys/gals, how do you post pics in this forum. Do you have an upload pic gallery or is it "img /img" command from another site..

GunnerAl, just set up an account on a photo upload site such as PhotoBucket (
http://www.photobucket.com
), then use its commands to upload your pics to there.
Next, go to your photo album and mouseover the photo you want to link to.
It will pop up with a little dialogue that appears right below the photo with several choices, the first one being "Email & IM."
The second option, "Direct Link," is what you want.
Simply click in the box just to the right of the words "Direct Link."
That just put the URL to your photo in your cut buffer.
Go back here and paste that URL between the "\[img\]" and "\[/img\]."

Cheers oldpink...
Just one for the road. Webley Patriot in the front with a Cometa Fusion behind for size comparison. I'll have to buy a mount before I chuck on the scope. Actually that scope on the Fusion will end up on the Patriot. It's a Leapers 4-16x50 AO. I have a Hawke 4-12x50 Nite-Eye and I'll put that on the Fusion...
Edit later...
Added another to see more of the timber...

Gunner Al. Congratulations on your new to you aquisition. I agree with your assessment of the obvious quality you can't help but notice when you handle a UK Patriot. I got mine used from a forum member and treasure it.The best advice I would offer is to just shoot it and enjoy it.
