Anyone have any experience with this rifle? Every review that I have read said that this is an amazing rifle for the $.
Ive been wanting a new springer for a while now.
Anyone know of of a very accurate springer for around $400-500?
Thanks,
-Matt

BSA has been owned by Gamo for quite awhile now, that looks to me like a Gamo CFX with BSA labeling. The rotary breech was originally a BSA design. The CFX comes with a synthetic stock but sells for about $200. An extra $160 for a wood stock seems kind of excessive :-).
What do you consider "very accurate" in a springer? A Beeman R9/HW 95 is in your price range, very nice rifle, and very accurate by most peoples standards. Mine will easily do sub 1/2" groups at 25 yards, it's a .177 and is doing just over 16 fpe with H&N FTT's. I have a Diana 34 .177 that's just as accurate, but not quite as powerful, you could buy 2 of those for your budget :-). I've tuned both of them myself, the Diana has a Vortek kit, the Beeman a JM kit. So add another $80 to the price of either. TX 200's are selling used in that price range now, they have a rightly earned reputation for everything that's pretty much second to none. Or at least none that most of us ordinary mortals can afford :-). Later.

i would recommend the 34 also, as it will set you back only about 2 bills, leaving some extra for a great scope, or a good scope and a maccari kit... : ) now that is a rifle to be proud of...

BSA Superstar is the gun they used to make with the rotary breech. This is a pre CFX underlever made of all wood and metal. The bluing is old school Birmingham, deep and glossy. Mine is a .22 long barrel and shoots around 640 with JSB Exacts. The trigger is a true two stage adjustable design. My gun is so smooth (cocking and shooting) that I wrote the original owner to see if any work had been done on it. His reply was an emphatic "no, it's that dang smooth stock". They can be found used in the $250-300 range and come in .177/.22/.25 as a carbine or full length model. The stock is Monte Carlo style with a deep fore arm and grip checkering. Reminds me a lot of the HW77.

I would opt to get a tx200 its one of the best field target shooters in the market .I got the clone to it because of money reasons I got a custom stocked b40 I wish I had a tx200 but I'm in love with my b40 so she is here to stay like bart said something to pass down to the grandkids and the tx200 will still have a high resale value used ones are 500 bucks new almost or at 700 bucks the b40 300 new used maybe 220 to 240 used but I'm keeping mines so all good

From what I have seen it is the CFX Royal with a bit different stock pattern or checkering. You should ask on
www.airgunbbs.com
, the excellent Brit forum, if the trigger is metal or plastic and how it is. Sold as the BSA over there, it may have a better trigger than the current CFX or different from the older, metal Gamo trigger which takes Charlie's wonderful trigger. From the pics, it looks like a single blade affair without the usual Gamo front safety lever. Again, check with the Brits on how this rifle stacks up. (No pun intended to the BSA logo.)
ps - The Royal was originally $300, so this one is in line being a combo. Good thing is it is available in .22. Bad thing is the price. Personally, I would look for an older Royal or the synthetic. Someone here was selling one on the classifieds not so long ago, IIRC.

In that price range I highly recommend the RWS model 48. Pure killing machines.

But that one is chinese, it appears. Without the BSA barrel. Maybe the BSA Polaris is a nice gun.

That Browning is a great shooter, send her to ed shadow for a good lube/tune and put a real good scope on her and a sling and get out there and sling some lead....

Pellet-guns.net has the B40 .177 for 250 bucks. Not sure who they are or if anyone here has dealt with them.

For that money, I'd go ahead and try the Polaris. I think it might be a winner.

I doubt that BSA springers made by gamo have BSA barrels. On the other hand, gamo dynamax does have a BSA barrel
Edit: here you are
http://www.gunspares.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=24852&cat=Polaris
Seems to be a theoben style trigger unit made by gamo, the good thing is that GRT3 will probably fit in there.

It is a hammer-forged BSA Barrel. Charlie the Tuna says the trigger will not fit.
