I still have one Hammer's 4-9X32 of two I bought several years ago. One was beaten to death by a Hatsan magnum springer. It lasted two hard years though! All my Magnum springers now wear Winchester scopes. IMO the clarity of these scopes is as good as any Chinese made glass. They are rugged and the AO feature is well calibrated.
The downside is QC. Some people have reported QC problems. I haven't had any. Another con is the scope rings are trash. To get the most out of these scopes you will have to replace the rings. My third beef is the reticle. It is a perfectly adequate duplex cross hair. The wires are fine enough for precise aiming at targets as small as a squirrel's head. But I would really prefer a Mil dot reticle.
I have tried a number of the other popular scope maker's products. I have Leupold, Hawke, Leapers, Bushnell, CenterPoint, Hammers, Simmons, Barska, Pinty, and BSA scopes. The Hawke and leaper's scopes are definitely better glass but they are also twice to three times the price.

Captain, Thanks for the response. 5 sounds like a solid endorsement of the product. I agree with you about the reticle, because holdover matters with the power I have out of this .22 springer. The Simmons is a very old 4x32 so I'm feeling that anything is an upgrade. Surprisingly, it has held up though.. Based on what you said, it sounds like the Hammer would probably hold up to a mid range springer (it's no magnum) as well.
I'll probably end up with both a Hammer and a Win scope (other guns in the safe want new glass as well). But for now I think Im going to get the Winchester. Brand name recognition and your review here, play into the decision. Thanks again!!

Been on the fence about a winchester 2-7x for a while. I don't need one per se but might use one. The reticle holds me back, but barely. Everything else seems just right, especially for the price.

Hammer's sells their scopes as "Magnum air rifle" rated scopes. A big part of that is the rings. Hammer's scopes come with pretty good rings. Buy a quality set of rings for your cheap Winchester and you'll probably spend as much as you would for the Hammer's scope. I am blessed with a scrap box full of rings, mounts, rails, etc. from a lifetime collecting firearms.

Remembered I have an offset dovetail lying around AND saw its $40 right now (one is one the way)...
avator:
I use one piece mounts whenever I can on my harder hitting springers/gas rams. Stop pins are a plus. Hammers have always been good for me. I don't have a Winchester to compare.
