Hello folks, I want to buy my first air rifle in the near future but I've got a choice to make and I'd like to make it with your help. I am currently considering 2 rifles: the Hatsan Striker 1000x with the vortex gas piston OR the Hatsan Mod 95 without the vortex gas piston thus a normal spring. The Striker with the Vortex piston will come at 218,15 euros, while the Mod 95 with the normal spring will come at 199,00 euros. A Mod 95 with vortex gas piston will be out of budget hence I don't mention that option.I've read that the Vortex gas piston will prolong the lifetime and make the gun shoot smoother while also making less sound. It seems to me that a striker 1000x equipped with a Vortex piston will be a better deal than a standard Mod 95.I'm glad to hear you guys' opinions and advice. Thanks in advance, Greezy
Thanks for the replies!Mikey, your words are helpful to me but I have a small issue with the tuning part. I have never owned an air rifle and wouldn't now how to tune and tinker with the things inside. And well, if I even open the airgun up Hatsan's warranty will be over as it would be "my fault". So it begs the question; Should I start to tune with the available guides online and with minimal tools with risk of losing the warranty? I know there's guides online on how to fix springers and do small fixes but I'm a bit worried again, about the warranty if something goes wrong.I'll have a look at some guides on how to fix spring pistons if they buzz around. Overall I'd like to get more knowledge about airguns and how they work. Again, thanks for the help!-Greezy

Is 177 the only option for your region?I think you would be happy with either rifle, but as this will be your first air rifle I suggest YOU get the Striker Vortex. In Belgium we are pretty much free in terms of air rifle choice. We can have any calibre at any power, except for air pistols. They can only have a max of 7.5 joules for some reason. So I'll be going for a .22, the middle ground of the available .177 , .22 and .25And what makes you recommend the Striker Vortex? Yes, the chance of it shooting good right out of the box is higher, but I could achieve the same after a return (if needed if it doesn't shoot well) with the Mod 95. And the Mod 95 on top has a quattro trigger that seems better than the striker's + it doesn't have a hooded sight (=more visibility). But if you recommend a Striker for it's simpler construction I also understand. The Mod 95 seems better for the price and I'm willing to turn it back in for a new one if it doesn't function correctly. I don't need the airgun right away. P.S. This is the first time quoting so I'll see how it turns out, sorry for any clutter.Edit: Forgot to ask a question: I've seen some Hatsans lose their fibre optic sights as a result of bumping into something or just falling out because of improper manufacturing. In case this would happen, what is a good fix for this?

Alright, I'm going to settle with the Mod 95. Now I'm thinking of extra stuff to buy for maintenance. Which oil do you people recommend? Marketing wise I see Crosman silicone oil popping up a lot, but I don't trust marketing over you guys. Any pieces of advice I could get for maintaining my future rifle?-Greezy
