Where do you all think the price will settle on this? I can't see myself paying 450 for it. Perhaps 300? If it's got Gamo internals or a gamo gas piston, perhaps 150-200 is more appropriate when they fail to sell and get clearanced out? Kinda like that RWS 3400 that AOA has for 150.
... it's about equivalent to the price of an HW50 from Krale, and both are roughly 12 ft lb guns.I wonder how the quality compares between the two?
It will be fun to see how this new springer fares. The latest guns (Walthers, FWB Sport, SIG and 3400, basically Walther) failed to make it to the finish line. It's tough going trying to sell a new quality gun these days.
Uglymike asked for trigger pics in the Bargain Gate to figure out if the CDT trigger would work on this gun. I think this is a better thread to post it on.I took the stock off and verified it is the same modified Gamo SAT fake 2-stage trigger as the Supersport/Lightning SE guns. The blade is modified for the BSA style side safety so the corresponding CDT Gamo SAT blade will fit, but the safety will not work. The trigger out of the box is OK- not too heavy but it does have a little "2nd stage" creep that could be removed with a longer adjustment screw at the expense of sear engagement. So far, my impressions of the gun are:The stock has a high comb for scoped use and is not comfortable with the included iron sights. I like how the BSA rear sight has extra leaf adjustment in case the main elevation wheel is not enough. The cocking effort is pretty stiff for 12fpe- heavier than the HW95 or HW50, but the shot cycle is really nice- it has enough pop to be exciting but it is not overly jumpy. AoA included a 5 shot chrony string of 14.0 grain Meisterkugeln around 630 fps SD 2. I like the quick and twangless gas ram.The barrel pivot is basically a nut and bolt that relies on loctite to keep it from loosening over time- I adjusted it, but now it won't stay put until I thread lock it again.Accuracy is about what we've seen on the videos- not really impressive, but I hope it breaks in over time to give better results. I've had good to great accuracy from other BSA springers, and I've had more expensive guns perform poorly out of the box but get better over time, so I'll let this one break in before I pass judgement.Attached are the trigger pics Mike asked for.Have fun!
Krale has this BSA GRT Meteor EVO with gas ram and a full FAC rifle for 120 bucks. For those who decide they're interested in the AOA gun this looks like the same thing....
