Is anyone currently manufacturing these? It may be a non-issue but the OEM CS always looks like such a fragile thing. I believe ARH once sold/made a machined steel version. Is anything like this available now?

You're pretty much spot on. Jim Maccari used to machine them and sell them through his company, ARH. They looked flimsy, too, but they were machined rather than sintered like the originals so they were stronger. He sold a forged front stock bracket as well. Unfortunately they were too good and he sold too few of them. It could take him a year to go through a batch. I talked to a machinist about making a batch for me. He said if I'd order a hundred at $30 apiece he'd make them for me. He had access to a CNC mill so he could easily run them in quantity after programming it. I couldn't see sinking that much money into the project and let it drop. I'd love to learn of a new source for them but it would be a low volume item. I did learn that cocking shoe breakage in the UK is relatively rare as the guns there are limited to twelve fpe by law unless a person has a special license.

When I rebuilt my TX I used the AA factory rebuild kit.
It came with a new cocking shoe and a new top hat.
The new top hat was considerably shorter than the one that came with the rifle.
I suspect either AA (or PA) is putting a taller top hat in for the American market.
Regardless with the rebuild kit and the original tophat I was shooting at 13.2fpe.
I took that tophat out and installed the replacement…12.1fpe, exactly.
The original cocking shoe was inspected and looks fine so back in it went.
I have a spare.
With the oversized tophat and pre-load I found (as others have), sometimes a little extra pull on the cocking lever was required to completely cock the rifle and/or engage the safety.
My friend in Kansas found that out too and when he pulled a bit too hard on the cocking handle fractured the cocking shoe.
He ordered another from PA (I have think it was from the AA parts depot) but it could not be installed on the cocking lever.
Air Venturi supplied him with a computer drawing of where and of what amount of metal had to be removed from the cocking arm to fit the cocking shoe.
To date he has not completed the project.
I wonder how much pressure is really needed on the cocking shoe and maybe some space age synthetic material (DELRIN/PEEK/MDS) could be used in lieu of pot metal?
