Now that there is a brand new UK Gate, what better way to help kick it off than with pictures?! ;D ;D
I'll go first (not that my pics are that great) and here's a picture of my UK Webley Patriot on the bottom, along with my neighbor's David Slade tuned, gas-rammed Beeman Kodiak (exact same rifle) on the top. Both are in the hard-hitting .25 cal and dish out some serious power. ;D
Now, let's see some other pictures of your UK/English hardware!

Ah ha ha!
I knew this was going to start!

BTW, folks...that's .25 calibers of springer mayhem in those two posts above.
What a better way to break in this new gate! ;D ;D

No Al. That was the shipping torture with the 56.
The TX popped a spring so I sent it to Scott (Motörhead) for an extreme fine tune and new spring. Showed up little before 7 tonight. Simply cannot tell you how much better he made a magnificent rifle!!
WOW!!!

This is my Air Arms Pro Sport. Its 1 of 3 in the world in .22 cal. that was put into a left handed walnut stock from the factory. I bought it about 2 years ago from another GTA member. I did a review on it which is posted in the review gate somewhere.

Wow, love the way you posed her, Scott. ;)
Those trees really compliment the beech stock on the TX, that's pretty snazzy. 8)
Rich, that's one hottie from the UK you got there. ;)
Just wait until Calmark sees her, in lefty!!! (he's also a lefty)

Wow! Lots of good stuff posted already in the first 24 hours! ;D ;D
A factory LEFTY AA Pro Sport stock?! I didn't know those existed and I had crossed a Pro Sport off my list since they only came in RH stocks. I figured I'd have to get a TX if I ever got an Air Arms to get it in LH. You better hang on to that one Richard, its almost a one-of-a-kind. ;D
Ok, you guys need to slow down with the pics. We don't want to run out any time soon. ;)

Oh and No I don't need anymore father in laws but Thanks! ;)

Final adjustments before hitting the field for some Starlings and HOSPs.
-
My one and only British entry. ( so far ). New scope came Friday, and mounted it today. Raining again. Went with the Hawke Sidewinder 4.5-14x42. Glass is very clear, like the fine half mil-dot reticle. Just need to get some good weather, so I can finish testing pellets.

Wow, Tom!

Nice looking glass too! ;)

Looks great Tom!!! Can't wait to look thru that glass!!! Got a little shooting in today before the rain started. Ugh.

Tom
Tom, I pointed one of my landscape lights on my target trap for night shooting. My wife hasn't noticed that the spot lamp has been redirected from the lemon tree over to the bullet trap. ;D
If you have any landscape lighting, you might want to give that a try - it works for me.

If I had landscape lights they would end up targets.

Tom
Tom, I know you're a better shot than that! ;D
I've seen your targets, you're pretty deadly with that TX in your hands.
The landscape light isn't closer than 2 feet from my target so that's plenty of room.
And besides, it's one of the spot-type of lamps that sits on the ground and can be directed in different angles. ;)

I use mine for night time huntin in my yard LOL!!! :P

Oh yeah! Yes! Yes!!!
Now THAT is an air rifle!
-
OK.......now I wanna know how you airgunners from across the big pond successfully hunt rabbits and squirrels at such long ranges with your 12fpe guns!
LOL.....reading some posts from "the colonies" you'd think a 30fpe .25 Patriot is required just to take a squirrel at 10 meters! :o
-
Thanks Niko! I don't know about the fellas across the pond but I'm here in the U.S. and I have used allot of 12lb tuned gun's and they work on game quite well! I even use some of my rifles that were tuned to 9ftlbs and have taken quite a few starlings @80yds with a .177cal with a 7.9gn CPHP's :P
-
Amen to that, Mark!
I've taken out sooooo many pest birds at long distances with my Bearcub it just becomes comical. I have cats follow me out in the field because they know what's coming. ;D
Every time I bring a few rifles to the field, the Bearcub is always in the trunk as the cleanup hitter. Yeah, folks, the little Vulcan bats fourth in the lineup. The Patriot, Crow Magnum, RX-1, blah blah blah have nothing on the little Vulcan. I can wield it around all day long in and out brush since it's such a small package. I call it an R9 in a small, British package ;)
I know I keep talking it up, Mark, but you're going to love that little cannon.
Shoot it for a while first and then tune it, you'll be amazed how it shoots after a nice tune. ;)

Ed, I think you got it all wrong. Out here in the States we need a 45fpe gun for a squirrel at 10m for a flatter trajectory ;D ;D ;D ;D

Bear in mind in most cases we don't even have the luxury of a full 12ft lb here in the UK, we have to leave a buffer just in case because the consequences of an over power air gun are so severe.
Unlimited fine and up to 7 years in the clink now. Same applies to importing over power guns intentionally or not.
-
Niko it has shipped should see it sometime next week I hope! :P

Awesome Mark!!! The tracking torture begins!!!!!

Mark,
I expect a full report with lots of pics, closeup shots, different angles, etc..
The first three serial numbers and any other details. 8)
I still have all the paperwork and receipt for my first Bearcub along with the trigger fob (fancy little Beeman thingy that hangs from the trigger guard).
And don't forget to track it 30 times per day like Joe. He is a glutton for punishment and nobody knows torture better than Joe. ;D ;D

Thanks for the info, Gary. ;)
I've heard that lots of people in the UK have their air rifles tuned in about 11.2 - 11.4 fpe just to be on the safe side. The TX200 is notorious for creeping up in power over time so they keep that one down to just a little over 11fpe as a buffer.

thanks guy's I'm sure I'll be walkin the floor till it gets here LOL!!! ya I'll be showin her off for sure! :P

Thanks, yes I remember us going back and forth about the Vulcan, hope all is well. I'll eventually get the Longbow tuned and am looking into a custom stock for the Evolution. I'll eventually post photos. I like the English springers more than the German ones. I love the Longbow because it has a great trigger, is compact, accurate and it seems like it hits hard. The Supersport is extremely accurate, quiet, easy to cock, hits hard (14.08 fpe) and it's so R7/HW30 esque in size. The Evolution, oddball caliber, quiet accurate and gas ram. May thin the heard though to offset the cost of the custom stock for the Evolution and future Longbow tune.
-
Dang! I thought you were going to "thin" the herd starting with the Evolution! ;D
Funny how I have selective hearing. ;D
Keep us posted on those guns and their tunes, we love more pictures - there's never too many ;)
-
Dang! I thought you were going to "thin" the herd starting with the Evolution!
Well lets see how the Longbow comes out after the tune. Eventually I'll be down just to one, as I'm not shooting enough to justify all three.

Thanks Mark, I just sold the Supersport believe it or not, yesterday. I really really liked it but don't shoot much/more than one air rifle at a time and eventually I want to settle on one air rifle, one caliber and master it. The Supersport was great, it hit hard was accurate and lightest of all three. It was almost a cross between an R7 and an R9. It was slightly edged out by the Longbow's compactness and trigger and the Evolution's oddball caliber and gas ram power plant. All three are/were equally as accurate. Slade chronied my Supersport and told me it was shooting 12.65 grain .22 caliber pellets at 708 fps for 14.08 fpe, not bad. There were no gas rams available or on the horizon when I sent my Supersport down to him, so he put in one of his springs, if gas rams were available then I would have gas rammed it and kept it and sold off the others, no question. You can't ram a Longbow, just tune the heck out of it. I don't know what my longbow puts out, I've read anywhere from 12-14 fpe in .22, eventually I want to get it tuned. My Evolution is supposed to be shooting at 13 fpe but again I don't have a chrony, I'm working on getting a custom stock made for it. My LDC was made by Neil Clague, I recommend him, it fit like a glove. I told him what I wanted and he came through. That along with the Slade tune made the BSA more backyard friendly. The Crusader is great, I would love one in .25 but I never see those around for sale. I want to say Pomona has a .22 Crusader up for grabs.

This is the second time my jaw has dropped on the floor today thanks to Mr. Driskill. :D
Mike, buddy, that's a real looker you have there! Even Mr. Palone approves and he's one tough customer ;)
-
Mike, buddy, that's a real looker you have there!
Thanks Niko, this rifle is a great favorite of mine, and has an interesting individual history. It was actually a sales sample sent directly from Webley to Harrington & Richardson, which imported Webley air pistols for many years (and even manufactured Webley auto pistols under license at one time).
I bought it at the Roanoke airgun show one year, in absolutely mint condition and still in an H&R box. The action still had the factory sticker on it. It was minus the PH 17B rear sight--typical to omit such pricey add-ons with a sample gun such as this--which was an eBay pickup.
I'm not sure the Mk 3 could ever be a great target rifle as the stock isn't quite right for the high sight line, but it's still a blast to shoot.
-
Those Webley's look very nice.
As I understand, they have the best, highest quality bluing of any guns. I think for the German guns, Walther has the best quality. I'll have to learn more about the British guns.
-
Well here's another favorite of mine, the utterly unique Webley Mark 2 "Service."
These guns were mostly made in the late 1930's, i.e. right before the war, and a few were made up and sold after the war too. As you can see, they basically work like a Webley pistol--barrel on top of piston, which moves rearward when fired.
The Service is quite an amazing thing to look at in detail...in my mind's eye, I see a room full of crusty old machinists all trying to show each other up, LOL! Note the gorgeous sights, including a built-in peep sight. The gun's barrel can be instantly removed and changed (I have the OEM .22 barrel, and a .177 one made in the 80's; .25 was also made back in the day). The trigger is pretty nice and adjustable for sear engagement. It has an automatic safety that directly grabs the piston when the barrel is released. The breech seal is cammed shut by a rotating bolt, and is massively tight.

All in all, a pretty interesting old rifle and great fun to use.
-

As I understand, they have the best, highest quality bluing of any guns. I think for the German guns, Walther has the best quality. I'll have to learn more about the British guns.
Thanks Robert! I have to say that in my opinion, Walther's metal polishing and blueing is absolutely unmatched in quality and consistency in post-war airguns. They are amazing.
That being said, IMHO older British guns in general are superior to German guns in overall fit and finish, with Webley leading the pack. The blueing on Mk 3's, especially earlier ones, is amazing. And Webley maintained an extremely high standard of metal finish, even on their later more mass-produced designs, up to the end of UK production a few years ago.
If you are familiar with the classic reference book "Gas, Air, and Spring Guns of the World," published by WHB Smith in 1957, he singles out Walther and Webley as the two makes of airguns that are the highest quality and consistently met or exceeded all advertising claims, after examining and testing just about every major brand then existing (this was probably the first book to publish airgun chrono data). He knew his stuff.

Very cool "Service" rifle .... timeless classic from a time long gone sadly never to be again.
That's SWEET !!!

Very cool indeed.

Very nice, not much into collecting airguns, only PB's. Wouldn't mind having that one.

I can't seem to find a price list for BSA guns. Does anyone know what the MK6 sells for? Sounds like a great backyard gun.

Some nice British metal on here - makes me feel right at home 8)
Love the old Webleys and it's good to see the left handed contingent represented too.

Thanks chaps!
Obviously I have an unfair advantage - I imagine you pay a lot more for AA stuff over there, plus most have mine have come to me at "favourable" prices for various reasons.
Most of them have had a little work done to get them up to scratch; stock refinishing, tuning, fixing of little issues etc.. it's nice to be in the situation now where I'm happy with the guns I've got and don't really lust after anything else ;D
-
Mike, another advantage I see is that you can walk into many shops there and handpick each and every rifle you want. I would pay extra to be able to do that.
Again, you have some gorgeous rifles there. Very cool! 8)
-
very LH PCP's there ;D myself being a southpaw shooter I can really respect what you have! ;D :P

Thanks - sadly though it's not as easy as you think as hardly anyone stocks LH rifles (let alone multiple examples). Both new ones I've bought have been special order so I've had to take what I've been given!
very LH PCP's there ;D myself being a southpaw shooter I can really respect what you have! ;D :P
Ta - it's certainly hard enough to find decent used LH rifles over here; must be a nightmare over there if you're into the British stuff. Unfortunately the NJR isn't full left hand (RH action in LH stock) however this was as good as it got back then and it's the only LH factory NJR I've seen..
Tammy's custom AA410 .177, lefty action custom sporter HFT right hand stock
[smg id=1840]
Good stuff - nice stock on the S410. How come you're running a RH stock / LH bolt though? You are aware that you can change the bolt orientation I trust..? ;)
-
I just picked up a nice TX200HC in .177 yesterday to add to my collection. It has the walnut stock and already has a Vortek 12fpe tune kit installed. It came with less than a tin of pellets through it, so it's up to me to keep breaking it in. I guess now I'm part of the TX200 club now. Aren't the dues shooting at least two tins a month? ;D
-
WOW. Great Pics! Thanks!
-
Nice gun, Mark!
I had the pleasure of shooting that fine weapon yesterday.
Now Mark knows why the HC is the way to go. ;D

Ahem.

Yeah, that's right!
That comment was directed right at you, Joe!! ;D ;D ;D

How did I know that????????? Missed you bro!!!

This a 1980's ERA Barnett Spitfire ( WEBLEY TRACKER ) .177 cal Tap Loader, Side Cocking carbine.
After a tune with a upgraded piston seal and spring guide upgrade shoots 7.9 CPHP's @ 625 fps for @ 9 1/4# energy.
Sweet little gun ... ;D

Very sweet indeed!
Can I shoot it, please? ;D

OK, I will be there Sunday and I will ask! ;D

I'll ask on Sunday too. ;D

Hmm, what do you think, Joe? Short man syndrome? :P ;D

Undoubtedly the Napolean thing George!!! Sad.

You guys talkin' 'bout me? ???
I ain't short......just my rifles are short. ;D
I may be short of hair but I ain't short height-wise, now you guys are really stirring the pot! ;D ;D

Hmmmmmmmm I think thou protest a bit much!!

Hmmmmmmmm I think thou protest a bit much!!
;D ;D ;D
-
The word isn't "short", it's "compact" and also "lighter" and "pointable". ;D The Hunter Carbine has the same length of barrel as the mk3. The mk3 just has a longer shroud and cocking lever, making it a little easier to cock and a bit quieter. People with the mk3 need to get an HC also to see how handy the " compact" TX version is. ;D
-
I like the way you think Mark!!! So, what you're saying is Niko should send me his HC immediately!! Right???
-
^^ I like the way this guy thinks! ;D
-
That's the spirit! Mk3 owners can love the HC just as much. It's like having two kids and being asked which you love more. ;D
Good luck prying that HC away from Niko. He's nuts about his AA rifles. ;D Besides, he and I are going head to head on Sunday in 25m benchrest. I hope I have mine ready by then!
-
Undoubtedly the Napolean thing George!!! Sad.
;D ;D
So you think maybe the Short Dead Dude (quoting Bill and Ted here ::)) had an HC stashed somewhere? I think I just figured out how he lost the Battle of Waterloo! He ran out of pellets! :o ;D :P

I think the words your looking for is "vertically challenged" ;D or in the guns case it would be "horizontally challenged" ;)
I would like to try the "horizontally challenged" fella on Sun. myself but my wife's 94yr. old aunt's/godmother's funeral is on Sun.

I think I prefer the MkIII balance to the HC. So there.
Shooting nice, tight, 5 round groups, standing at 10 meters:

Very nice accuracy to match a very nice rifle, Arjuna! 8)
And to do that standing is impressive, looks like the TX and you are getting along just fine.

I have posted these pics of my 22 cal TX200 before, but not in this thread. Hope you don't mind looking again. :D

I recently picked up this really nice late-1950's vintage Webley Mk 3. With the early-style more slender stock, and factory option Parker-Hale PH 16M sporter aperture sight, it is one of my "dream airguns!" It really feels much smaller and "quicker" in the hand than the later style, more rounded stock--a real "rifleman's rifle" if there ever was one.
The gun is .22 and had been VERY well tuned by the previous owner. It is WONDERFUL to shoot, one of the very funnest vintage airguns I've ever had. Like most old Brit .22's it has a slightly larger bore and is only happy eating the classic old Webley pellets, or "blue tin" Eley Wasps though!

Michael, Great collection, something to be proud of. Thanks fore sharing.

It's my birthday this weekend and I've gotten my present!
Found an estate sale listing for a "Beeman Model #Markii .22cal serial#n.a." Really, that was all it said...
I looked at the picture and commented to myself "Hmmm that looks like a Rapid"....
Long story short I attended the auction and won the rifle, waited a week for it to arrive and opened the shipping case to reveal a
Theoben Rapid with Beeman markings, making it a Beeman Super 12 MKll from when Beeman was the importer of Theobens.
The other amazing thing it's actually .20cal.. love that! and it's fitted with a Bushnell Elite 4200 6x24x40
So I posted up a couple pics on one of the Rapid forums and asked if anyone could help with some history and ID, since the mod did not look like the ones I found doing my due diligence.
I got a reply that the mod looked like an AZ product, so I snail mailed off a letter to The Man asking if he showed it in his records.
Sitting down for dinner the other night and the phone rings, it's Allen Z !!!!!!
We had a great conversation and he confirmed that it had gone thru his capable hands.
It's shooting 950fps with the JSB 13.7gr and AZ said he tuned it with Premiers to shoot about 930.
He encouraged me to stretch it legs and said it will do about 1inch at 100yrds.
Allen is a really nice guy to talk to and very down to earth, would enjoy meeting him in person someday.
To say I'm totally over the moon on this deal would be putting it mildly!
I've ordered the missing magazine and it should be here Friday, so I know what I'm doing this holiday.......
On to the pictures..
-
Very very nice score on that one !!
That is a keeper without a doubt.
Enjoy her for many years to come ;D
-
What a sweet looking shooter David!!!!
Happy birthday bro!!!
-
That's a super score, congrats on the good fortune!!! ;D

Hi guys I need help. I just received a Beeman Crow Magnum that someone obviously did not know how to fix. It seems not to have any air in it but that is not my problem. I need the schematics for it and can't find them anywhere. Is there a similar gun who's schematics I can use to get it apart and back together with. Thanks for you help
Art
-
Art if im not mistaken that gun is the theoben eliminator? someone correct me if im wrong. good luck with your schematics search, maybe email theoben usa?
Josh
-
Hi Art,
You might want to start a new thread and state that you're looking for schematics for a Beeman Crow Magnum/Theoben Eliminator. It's the same gun, just the stocks are different. Be aware though, there are 4 different versions of the Eliminator/Crow Magnum so their internals will differ.
Please include some pics and maybe we can help identify which version you have, get some close ups of the trigger area.
-
sorry guys but this lil fella told me he wanted to be in a thread with his relatives......

Josh that has one short barrel. I'm guessing it is the bearcub you list in your signature.
Is it hard to cock with the shortened barrel?
-
yea that's the cub, and that's factory length lol, the bear it its name describes how cocking it is. sort of a violent shot cycle as well, but I love it all the same :D

After my first exposure to high quality air rifles though the late 70's BSA catalog I moved to northern California and then it happened. I met Robert Beeman though a friend and next thing I knew I was seriously saving all the teenage money I could to gather up the nearly $500 for a new Weihrauch built Beeman HW77. At the time the most accurate spring gun available to me then. 33 years later she is still shooting awesome and holding up very nicely as you can see from the avatar. Fast forward to 2012 and with some extra cash burning a hole in my wallet last year I decided to try out what the Brits can do with this design. Enter the Air Arms TX200 Mk.III into my life. Woah, was this a very different animal than my German brute. She is just blued to a level I did not know was possible and the stock, walnut version of course, is just the most comfortable and pretty I have ever shot or held. The trigger, amazing as this is to say, is even smoother and crisper than the Rekord unit in my Beeman. A bit thin for me hence the trigger shoe. My only disappointment is my choice of optic. For the money these Leapers / UGT scopes are quite nice but for a springer it just does not hold zero well enough. Good buddy of mine you may have herd of Rick Eutsler found an awesome deal on a Hawke Sidewinder 30 I am going to try next. I hear I will not be unhappy with this one, ever. US and German glass is still too pricey for me so we will give China one more chance with these highly spoke of Hawke scopes. Oh yeah, so impressed with Air Arms I am breaking into PCPs this year and the S510 Extra in .22 FAC is my front runner currently after deciding Daystate and FX are just too pricey for what they bring to the table. Plus Gene Salvino from Air Venturi knows my European tastes in fine airguns and advised me, for my own good and sanity, to just get an Air Arms and forget lower end PCPs in general (Hatsan, Mrod etc.). Good suggestion Gene and you are not even a sales guy, lol. Sticking with the guys from East Sussex for sure as they have impressed the heck out of me so far. Air Arms you win, blew away my German beauty. Still not gonna sell her though, too many memories. AA fanboy for life! :-)
P.S. hey gang, what are folks oiling their walnut stocks with? never did oil mine yet and she is dry as a bone...never owned one before. (is it me or one side is way darker?)

I love my Mk3 too. I was told teak oil works well with walnut, followed by paste wax. I have yet to apply this to my stock, but will soon. Congrats on your British Babe!
-
Nice TX ... all you guys actually have Nice guns !!
The AA walnut stocks respond VERY WELL to simple Furniture grade paste wax.
Having action out of stock give it a good 1/2 dozen apply & dry / buff sessions and you will have one fine looking very well sealed stock !!

Awesome Motorhead!...Thank you, I soooo have no Idea what I am doing to care properly for this beautiful stock. I just know I wanted to try walnut out and I could tell even sight unseen in person that the right hand walnut had a real nice fit. Way easier and more comfy to shoot compared to the Beeman stock. Plus I prefer thumbs up trigger attack and its harder to do with the angles on the Beeman pistol grip. The Italian stock on the Air Arms is just a joy to shoulder and shoot. So back to the issue; even though my stock is still new looking I should do this to protect it? Video links?
In fact am most likely going with the hunter green ambi poplar stock on my new s510 purchase...I need to be less greedy and let my lefty teen shoot with a comfy stock also I guess. :-P

Just do a Goggle search on Applying paste wax to wood furniture. Really simple, tho does take some time between apply, dry and buff sessions.
In warmer weather 15 min to 1/2 hour dry time between coats ... easy peezy

Ok gang, HAD to post a quick update. Just got my factory referb / demo Hawke Sidewinder 30 6-24x56 with SR12 reticle and I just am so impressed it's a bit hard to express here. After getting into fine optics through pre-teen telescope building workshops orientated towards astronomy plus operating and owning a few high end telescopes I can tell you guys these China built Hawke scopes are the real deal. Optically, this glass is on par with the much higher priced US, German and Japanese offerings I have examined. Bright and clear at all zoom levels with only the slightest hint of edge aberrations and no chromatic problems observed. This for about three times the price of my old trusty UGT/Leapers makes it look like a toy in comparison with this Hawke. Very good option for under $500 if you want a serious scope and don't want to sell a car or take out a mortgage for one. Excellent array of goodies in the nice hard shell foam lined case including a 4" focus wheel and sunshade. Made the BIG mistake of downloading the free Chairgun software last night. Yeah was up over 45 minuets just playing around with settings and features. So this morning I'm researching digital chronographs online so I can "really" blueprint my TX. Order placed I will be measuring velocities by early next week. Really dying to find out how this is performing. I'm guessing she is shooting a bit on the hot side biased on the ballistics I am seeing with just POI changes. Maybe even 15 ft/lbs or so with .177 Baracudas, but maybe my guess is way off. Anyway thought I would post a couple of new pics with this nifty scope mounted. I can't even brag about the price I got on this one as it may compromise my source. ;) Air Arms and Hawke fan-boy for life!

You got me thinking and you are right, I didnt run the numbers before my late night post and guesswork. It may indeed be close to 15 though with the way it like to go crazy with lighter pellets but I am also dealing with a VERY dirty barrel. Proper cleaning supplies will be here tomorrow and after a good scrub I think she will tighten up again. After over 1500 pellets without a single patch through I'm betting it's pretty bad in there. Plus PA should be shipping my chrony today so next week I will have "real" numbers to work with and post here. Gene Salvino at PA / Air Venturi did do something to this thing it seems besides an awesome clean-out and lube job by the way she shoots but I need to meet up with other air gunners so I can compare. Can't wait to send in my Hw77 for new goodies and see how the 33 year old shoots tuned up and with fresh seals and a new spring.
Just looked at Chairgun again and yeah I do think I may be pushing the 10.65 grain at close to 800fps...we will see next week...ballistics table to follow.

Thanks Nikoman. BTW my mom still owns a house in Sac for when they come down the mountain, like many bailed out to retire in cheaper Nevada near Tahoe. Anyway I see your an avid fan of fine optics with how much you have invested in Leupold. Awesome scopes but I just can't get into optics that cost more than my rifles, lol. I do plan to try out a Leupold, Zeiss or a Nikon some day when I'm rich but I'm quite happy about discovering Hawke. Good option for the poor people, hehe. ;)

Yes ;D but I promise to post another once I get the stock waxed and the Hawke sidewinder mounted :o 8)

I can't wait to see that, cool!
Wait, do we have to wait another year for that? ???

::) ::) ::) ::) Noooooo ;D Just a few weeks while i repair my slush/fun fund. The "boss" don't care what I spend as long as it's not house money ;D ;D

Hi everyone, I am new here but I thought I would post a pic of my two Air Arms springers. On the left is my Air Arms TX200 MK III .177 cal with walnut stock. It has a Hawke Sidewinder 30 4-6 X 50mm scope. On the right is my Air Arms Pro Sport .22 cal with walnut stock. I have a Nikko-Stirling 4-16 X 44mm Targetmaster scope on it. I installed Maccari spring kits in both rifles. I am still learning the fine art of springer air rifle marksmanship but so far I am very happy with both set ups and am having a blast punching paper. Any words of wisdom are welcome!
-
Nice pair of irons there Sam.
Richard
-
;D Sweet set Sam , my ProSport is .177 walnut and my TX is .22 beech still a fine pair
-
Very nice siblings you have there, Sam.
Nice background, makes them look very serious. ;)
-
OK, ok...last one I promise. I think, lol. Could not resist posting the "final look" for my stock TX...seriously considering those fine stocks that gent posted of his FT TX200 HC by that Ginb guy. Wow those are nice but I fear very pricey. Anyway I added the cocking assist handle, awesome at protecting the bluing on the handle, and the sun shade with some flip up covers. She is just so large and in charge now. That is the sight in sheet when I installed the new Hawke last week at 50 yards. Yeah I know I should be sighting in a bit closer to 39 yards according to Chairgun but I just dont find shooting the TX much of a challenge inside 50 yards. Got a couple of sub-one inch groups that day. Good stuff...last pics until I get a new stock or something major, hehe.

Very cool Dave.
Richard

I just noticed something; my TX scope mount looks very small and deficient with that shade on. I honestly think it looks way out of place for some reason now. What the heck? Ok, really will I two piece mount do anything for stability with the further spread between the attach points? Or does it just look cooler with these larger scope?
Not sure...
-Pezzer
-
Single piece mounts are more stable.
I use SportsMatch mounts, the rings are farther apart making the mount look larger.
With these rifles it doesn't really matter, single or two piece will do the trick - it depends on its owner's eye. I'm picky because I won't do two piece mounts on my Air Arms rifles. ;D
Look at my sig below, those are the mounts I'm talking about. ;)
-
NIKO
Your holding out on us Brother ;D
I've seen it, held it & taken it apart ..... ya Dawg :o
-
OK, OK! ;D
Here she is!
-
Almost forgot....
Here's her first 5 shots ever.
20yds away as I sat on a bucket and was wobbling off a pair of shooting sticks.
I guess she likes FTT's! ;D
-
Very nice Niko, but I think you should send it to me for the break in period. This way you can save some aggravation. I promise to send it back after 4 tins. Have fun.
Tom
-
Tom,
I've literally only taken 5 shots with her! :o
They've been working me to death at work so there hasn't been any time to shoot.
Every time I grab the PS and a tin of pellets, something ALWAYS comes up! >:(
I was about to shoot a couple of hours ago but I had something else come up.
I mean, look at the target posted up there - it's way off since I haven't even zeroed the scope yet but that group says it all.
I might have to send this gal to someone for a proper break in! ;D
Now I'm waiting for your Pro Sport to show up on this page, Tom. ;)
This addiction won't let you off easy ;D
-
Ah, the motivation of getting you to come out and share the new addition ;D ;D ;D
-
New MKIII I got today. Added 1-pc BKL mount and Leupold 3x9 EFR.

Very nice TX!!
Love the little EFR scope, it keeps things nice and slim ;)

Niko got a big boy gun?????? Or does AA make a Pro Sport shortie???
Joe, sorry to disappoint you but the Pro Sport has the same exact barrel size (as you call it) the "shrimpy" HC rifle. ;D ;D
Yeah, Joe, finally I got a big boy gun! ;D
....BTW, where's your Pro Sport, Bro? ???
I know it's only a matter of time with you! You can't resist so I assume it's on your short list (no pun intended since I know you don't like short rifles), LOL!!! ;D

Niko!!! Scott talked me out of the Pro Sport when I was looking at the 98. Glad he did cause that rifle is just unbelievable......but it is time for another Air Arms!! 3 big tourneys coming up!! It's time!!!
-

Joe,
After seeing Niko's PS first hand ... It is Very TX'ish but differs enough in stock geometry and balance that it is indeed a very different rifle.
If your impressed with a TX ? .. the Pro Sport will really get a rise ;D ;D
-
STOP SCOTT!!!!!!!! Enabler!!!
-
Muhahahaha!
Resistance is futile!
I brought the PS to show Scott yesterday and do a little trigger polish, some mojo here and there (the usual trigger tunes Scott does so well) and you know how it goes.....
the stock was off, the trigger block was out and one thing led to another so Scott couldn't resist dropping all the innards out for a quick look. ;D
Joe, he's right, it is very TX'ish and knowing how much you love your TX I think you'd love one of these too. It's just a different flavor and this time get Walnut so you have something else for furniture. Just saying....
We love spending your money! ;D
-
Resistance?????? What resistance?????
I just so happen to have a Sidewinder not sitting on anything............here we go again!!!
-
OK, Mr. Resistance (NOT)! ;D
I dedicate the following Pro Sport pics to you, Joe, as part of the enabling process.
I give credit to Scott for nudging you but this should push you over the edge! ;D
-
That's a very sweet Longbow, Petey. It should be a little cannon with those specs. The old Webleys are sure nice.
Uh oh, I see a buying rush on Prosports coming. I think Niko needs to start a "Prosport Fever" thread! ;D
-
Forgot to mention, some of the internals are shared between the TX200 and the Pro Sport. One of several things I noticed about the Pro Sport that differs is that the piston is buttoned:

I have a deal with Petey.
We're trading that Longbow for a Pro Sport to shoot for a day. ;)
I am speechless about that Longbow, he knows Webleys are my Kryptonite so he can pretty much shoot any of my air rifles just so I can get my hands on that thing to try! ;D
Mark, I know you might be there too so I call first dibs on the Longbow to shoot!
As for a Pro Sport Fever Thread, we'll see how many people get the disease. Yes, if the disease spreads there will be no mercy and the GTA will be responsible for Air Arms' stock to go up. ;D
-
Another hovering rifle Niko??????
That bad girl is breathtaking!!

Niko are the pistons interchangeable ?
Tom

Ah, see your back into it again ... yesterday was a virgin before pulling the trigger group out, now your showing us some finer details ???
So ... What ya changing ? .... one of your many tuning kits perhaps ;D
-
Tom, I didn't look to see if they're interchangeable but it wouldn't surprise me if they were. They share a lot of parts, the Pro Sport is basically a redesigned TX with a few differences.
I'm assuming the piston is buttoned on the PS because of the really heavy strain from the cocking system.
Joe,
That rifle is hovering for you, bro.
She's screaming "buy me to keep your TX company...." ;D
You know that MkIII wants a sister.

Don't you ever open a rifle up to just look? ;D
I did it for *cough* you guys, so you can see the purty buttons.

Joe Just so there is no doubt in your mind about the Pro Sport As you know the TX is a very sweet and accurate rifle however the Pro Sport is definitely the cats whiskers and it should certainly be on your this is my next Brit rifle and a must be my next Motorhead tune for you ;D ;D ;D
So wacha waitin for If you have a spare scope begging for a quality rifle you will not be disappointed with the Pro Sport 250 shots and 10 yards are as tight as I can make them and I'm sure you don't want to be missing out on your next best girl ::) :P ;D ;D ;D
-
You won't even need to tune that thing right away, it has a very sweet shot cycle out of the box. I'd break it in a bit and then send it over to Scott for a tune. ;)
With the way Joe breaks rifles in, it should only take about 5 days! ;D
-
5 days???? If I'm slacking!!!
-
Air Arms TX200HC and Pro Sport in the field earlier today.
-
Great pic!
-
Thanks, Larry!
Mark and I went HOSP hunting yesterday, hehe ;D
One air rifle per guy was not enough! As you can see the bucket makes a great rest for other loaded rifle to pick up for quick follow up shots. There are many pests at times and sniping those little boogerheads from 50-60 yards out is the only way to get them without scaring them off. Pretty soon the leaves will be off the trees and then it's GAME ON.
Mark snapped this pic on his phone for the GTA, he thought it was appropriate to get the pair of AA's for the British Bombshell thread. ;)
Never mind the dude in the pic, I'm no bombeshell ;D
-
Great pic Niko!!! Sounds like a great day!!
Oh....did I tell you I lit a match at 25 yards with the TX??
-

I think you need a bit of sun bro!!!
Just in case ya missed it.....THIS MATCH!!!
-
Did I tell you how nice the TX and Pro Sport look together?
-
Oh my God!!!!! They are absolutely 2 of the sexiest rifles I've seen Niko!!! And I think my TX could use some English company.......she isn't too fond of the Fräuleins!!! I am pretty sure they have some bad history!!!
-
;D ;D ;D ;D I'm amazed that you haven't won another pool tournament and had a Pro Sport delivered to Motor for a pre delivery tune job
-
I'm spending too much time with these darn BB guns and not practicing Don!!! Last 3 tournies I wound up just out of the money.....from 5th to 7th......almost as bad as kissing your ugly cousin bro!!! Played last night got knocked out in 7th and then matched up in a money match. I made enough for a pellet order! Nerd to practice, but here I am again slinging lead!!! Ugh

;D ;D ;D You know the old saying Jack of all trades Master of none "there you go" You can either light matches at 25 yards or 3 cushins and in but not both at the same time ::) ::) ::) ??? :o
-
The Air Arms Pro Sport (.177).
Mark's a Lefty so you get a nice view of the gun from the cheek piece side. ;)
And yes, those are chickens you hear in the background. ;D
To all the TX200 owners, keep a close ear on the cocking (how quiet it is) especially when the lever gets returned to the forearm. It's silent.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24-rS4Lr6EU&feature=youtu.be# (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24-rS4Lr6EU&feature=youtu.be#)
-
Awesome looking shooter!!!! The gun is pretty cool too!!!
;D ;D
That is just gorgeous Niko!!! Very quiet too!! When listening to cocking action you're reminded of the sound of solid engineering!! Just a nice tight "scrunch"!!!
Thanks for the vid bro......now I really NEED one!!!
-
Joe, that video was for you.
Just to help enable you a bit to keep that MkIII some company. ;)
Now that this thread has a sticky, it'll be quicker for you to post your new Pro Sport as soon as you get it! ;D
The quiet part in the video where I was comparing it to the TX was that there's no click at the end since there's no part to snap into. This is by no means a slam to the TX, you can hold down the anti bear trap button release to get silent cocking like the PS but it's that final little click that gets me in the field sometimes (it has scared birds away). ;D
-

Hey, Nikoman, shouldn't that read compression tube not piston? Beautiful walnut stock on your PS by the way.
Must post a pic of my TX200.

You are correct, 10-ring.
Here's the buttons:
-
TX200 MkIII .177, (Vortek PG2), Hawke Sidewinder 30 Tactical SF 4.5-14x42 (since replaced with Leupold VX-3 6.5-20X40 EFR), Rowan Engineering adjustable trigger blade.

So the buttons are part of the JM tune kit or an add on ?
-
So the buttons are part of the JM tune kit or an add on ?
Those Delrin buttons are standard on the Pro Sport as is the rear Delrin ring on the compression tube. That is the only difference between the mechanical internals of the Pro Sport and the TX200 apart from the cocking arm arrangement and linkage. One could assume that AA designed these bearings on the PS compression tube to facilitate easier cocking and to the reduce strain on the cocking mechanism. Then again, one could assume otherwise. The additional bearings on the Pro Sport compression tube doesn't affect the firing of the rifle or shot cycle at all, just the cocking.

Thanks Niko. I haven't taken any pics with the Leupy. Maybe, after work today if I get a chance.
-
;D Porn with a hint of burlesque to keep the suckers looking :o ::)
-
Very nice collection of Patriots there, Michael!
What kind of power are you seeing with the .177?
Thanks Niko and Tom.
The .177 shoots 9.5 grain Dynamic TM1 at 1030 fps which makes it a 22.5 ft/lbs rifle at the moment.
I recently put a Maccari piston seal and main spring in it and both were a bit tight so I expect to see numbers go up a little with some more usage.
The mid rifle is a .22 which I have not disassembled yet. It has some wear marks on it but shoots hard and straight. 900 fps with 16 grain Logun Penetrators makes it a 29 lb/fts rifle which is pretty respectable. It has a slight buzz sound so I will open it and check out the status of it during the winter.
The bottom rifle is also a .22 that is converted with a Theoben gas ram. The current power level is 870 fps with 16 grain Logun Penetrators which is Close to 27 ft/lbs and it has a very nice shot cycle.
Edit: Wrong numbers corrected.

OK enough of this British Bombshells ;) ;D Let see what Vintage American Iron Errr Brass looks like "BEEFED UP" ;D pun intended.

A picture of the latest addition to my small collection of UK made bombshells.
I have been thinking of buying a Theoben Eliminator .22 for quite a while and finally did it :)
Sorry about the poor pic quality, I misplaced my camera somewhere so the picture is taken with my smartphone.
-
Nice gun Michael. It appears to have won a nice pile of ribbons too.
Richard
-
Haha.
I cannot take credit for the ribbons covering that wall.
My wife and our dogs are responsible for those.
Meaning she takes them to dog shows and it has turned out well a number of times :)
I have not had the opportunity to shoot the Eli yet due to bad weather but I will as soon as it gets nicer.
-
Very nice Theoben, Michael. 8)
Please post some more when you find your camera. We'd love to see it with a scope mounted too.

I know I posted this elsewhere but here is my Webley Vulcan I just picked up. It is destined to make a trip to Airgunwerks and have David Slade perform his magic on it.

Michael, Thank-you for the nice comment. This is my first air rifle in 40 years, had a few when I was a child. I just got lucky when I saw this and my friend whom owned the gun store sold it to me quite cheaply. Buying it cheap like that I am able to send it out and put some money into it only making it better. I have a feeling this may be my first, but it won't be my last. I will be looking out for more air rifles from now on.

Famous last words, LOL!! ;D ;D
We're all with you, buddy! ;D
Very, VERY nice Vulcan indeed! Slade will definitely take care of that Webley for you. He can transform a plain Webley trigger into something special. One of my boat anchor Webley triggers was really heavy, no matter how much it was adjusted and David did his thing to make it really nice. Nice pics, thanks for sharing. 8)

My latest acquisition.
Air Arms Pro Sport .177 Walnut
BKL one piece adjustable mount
Hawke Sport 8-32 x 56 sidewinder scope
Updated with some more pics. Man that sunshade sure sticks out there a WAYS!!!
I've noticed that I think my scope is scooted farther forward than others with a similar setup, but that is where I need it to be to have a good cheek weld and sight picture through the optic.
-
Nice hardware, Jeff ;)
About time you posted the new PS ;D
-
Really nice setup Jeff :D
I want an Air Arms too in my small collection but I have set my aim for a Pro Elite and those are very hard to come by where I live so I will have to be patient.
-
I saw at least 6 Pro Elites at the Airgun show in Fresno last March. One guy had 3 on his table for sale with extra springs. But like you said, they are hard to come by.
-
I really like your Theoben. My Theoben Crow Mag is my Sledge Hammer.
Just really love the heft and power you get out of these gas rams.
The only thing I really do not like is that it is very noisy to cock with the chisle lockup.
I wish it was as quiet to cock as my FWB124.
Other than that it is one nice air rifle. Have you had a chance to chrony it?
Carlos
A picture of the latest addition to my small collection of UK made bombshells.
I have been thinking of buying a Theoben Eliminator .22 for quite a while and finally did it :)
Sorry about the poor pic quality, I misplaced my camera somewhere so the picture is taken with my smartphone.

That's very interesting, Carlos...
Mine closes silently, in fact it's almost as quiet as my Pro Sport when locking up and that one is completely silent if you return the lever slowly.
My buddy (Calmark) here on the forums makes a comment about the lockup every time he shoots the Theoben. I think he's shot my Crow Magnum more than I have lately. ;D
Have you tried rubbing a little moly on that area? That might do the trick for yours.
-
Hi! Niko!
I will try the moly but when I got it back from David Slade I thought that it was a little bit louder when cocking it but since it had been in his hands I thought it wouldn't need any attention for a while. I would really like for it to close silently instead of alerting the whole county of my position.

LOL!! ;D ;D
I know what you mean, one of my guns used to do that. A little moly goes a long way.
Seriously though, that Theoben's lockup should be nice and quiet so I don't hear out here on the West Coast ;D

He can show off all he wants!!
Keep 'em coming, Dave! ;D
-
Carlos: Thanks.
No I have not had the opportunity to shoot it yet since my work calendar has been very busy and the weather has also been horrible in my part of the World.
I am looking forward to trying it and will post chrony results. I have to decide what scope to have on it first though :D
I have tried cocking it though and it feels smooth and is quet so I really hope you find out what is making the noise in your rifle. Niko has a very good point in the Moly-lube trick.
If that does not help maybe you should call the tuner and ask him if he thinks it should make that kind of noise.
David: Thanks for the pictures.
I am a big fan of beautiful wood stocks so those pics put a big smile on my face ;D
Niko: 6 Pro Elites at the same time :o :o :o
Wow. I clearly live in the wrong part of the World :D
I bet that was a nice sight.
How much do they go for in US?
-
;D Naa I think Davids gun safe is lined with pure silk batting to protect the fine finish on those beauties :P :P :P ;D

Dave, those Crow Magnums are hard to photograph. Pictures don't do them justice, the wood on those things are literally 3D. Mine has tiger-striping all over but if the lighting isn't right, the camera won't capture it.
Yours looks like a real stunner! Nice Hyedua on that baby!! 8)
Looks like we have similar taste in scopes, my buddy Mark calls that one the "Mama Leupy" you have on it that Theoben. It looks like the 6.5-20X40 EFR if I'm not mistaken. Awesome scope, I just got mine back today from Leupold with the TMR reticle upgrade.
Does it work out well on that Crow Magnum? I always wondered what it would be like on one of those magnums.

Yep, walnut Mk3 stock; thanks.
After an hour of shoveling snow this morning I finally got a chance to sight in the 5-15 Legend. Quickly remembered that 2 cups of coffee on an empty stomach is not conducive to steady shooting! Regardless, the TX was one-holing at 15yds in short order. Looking forward to getting my 60yd range snow-free asap.
Really liking the new Burris Zee rings, too.

Ya know I have thinking over a TMR since getting the scope. Ironically just today I took some pics of the scope to put it up for sale since its really the lowest power mag scope I have. Its been killing me to part with it and I think your post is just the nudge I needed to send it in. Thanks for helping me spend more cash ! lol

Made a few changes during the arctic winter here in Michigan. Made an adjustable recoil pad, and polished the trigger and trigger guard. Installed a JM Arctic spring, and a Vortek o-ring seal. Replaced the breech seals, and just finished installing one of Roadworthy's custom heavy-duty stock brackets. All bolts replaced with stainless steel.
Still waiting for PA to get the piston bearings in stock so I can replace those.
Now I just need some snow to melt on my range!

BSA Buccaneer shares basic action to the Scorpion pistol. Not a powerhouse at all but a fun little plinker.
BSA also sold a late model Scorpion PCP.

Nice, Andrew!! 8)
Is that a C1 Carbine on the bottom?
-
Niko, yup. That's a C1 I resurrected from dead with a JM tunable muzzle brake. Still phenomenally accurate and surprisingly powerful rifle. Funny story but in my early days of AG I wanted one badly. Couldnt see spending that much coin on a real C1 so turned my Quest into one. LOL. I chopped the barrel and re shaped the stock and I had my C1. Sold that when I got this. Does anybody know where my Q1 is?

Mounted a Sidewinder 6.5-20x42 on BKL rings.....zeroed in a few shots and then shot this group at 30 yards with JSB 8.4.....10 of them!!! Right out of the gate laser!!!
Couldn't be happier with this beauty!!! Ordered an adjustable butt pad and trigger guard from Rowan.

Joe,
I have the Vortek PG2 14ftlb kit in mine and it is much smoother than stock, but more oomph than the 12ftlb kit. What did Motörhead do to your trigger? Which adjustable but road did you order from rowan? They don't show a ProSport one on their website, just one for tx200.
-
Hey Jeff!!
I had Scott put a PG2 kit in. Smooth is an understatement!! Very quiet!
He tuned the trigger and adjusted it to perfection bro!! It is boringly predictable and breaks beautifully!!
I took the adj butt plate off my TX and layed it over the Pro Sport, I'll let you know how it works out.
I have shot it a bit the last 2 days, bout 400 rounds thru, and she is a sweetie!!
This group at 35 yards with JSB 8.4, her fav so far.
What a pleasure to shoot!!
-
Yeah let me know about the tx200 butt pad.
Mine really likes the H&N Barracuda Match 10.65gr. Much better than the FTT 8.4 or the JSB Exact Heavy 10.65.
-
Looking good there, Joe!! 8)

Thanks Niko!!!
I am in love with this rifle!!!

You know how the ladies get!!

I haven't shot Springer FT the past two seasons and forgot about my TX200. How could I forget this baby? I restocked it, tuned it, added the Adjustable butt pad, and made the Ferris wheel. Love this rifle!

You've got to be kidding me! ;D
That's OK, we forgive you....especially since I forgot about my Tx ever since the Pro Sport arrived many months ago. ;D
I whipped up a fresh tune along with a new scope and the love affair will resume again.
-
;D Talk about blasphemy I have 4 active springers and will not part with any of them My TX200 .22 is a sweet shooter and the Pro Sport is sexy and accurate they are tied for #1 the 460 is a very strong second of the springers I love to shoot and the Gamo Whisper is in the mix to keep me humble. Now for the blasphemy I really enjoy the PCP rifles and my next purchase will be an AA S510 Xtra Fac .177. :o ;D

Those PCP guys, always waving their tentacles around like Cthulhu, trying to snare some hapless soul and drag them down into the dark abyss of bicycle pumps and absence of spring noise.......
Shameless and totally reprehensible behavior displayed by that crowd.............. ;)

Just call me Johnny Cash Jr cause I love walking the line between the Darkside and Springer . Besides I didn't say that I wasn't buying anymore springers actually still planning on a D34 and and at least another under lever maybe 2

After several tunes and several scopes, I finally settled on a combination that works for me on the TX200. I was seriously ready to give up on this little rifle and just sell it off but the last tune really turned things around and then I threw this very nice piece of glass on it to crown the achievement.
Now this is one swanky air rifle ;D

My TX 200 MK III .22 is a sweet shooter and unchanged from when I bought her from another member last fall. Smooth as butter shot cycle and I have seen no need to open her up , there is no appreciable twang and she shoots tack driver accurate with Crosman brown box 14 gr pellets ::) :o ;D ;D So there I have not been completely seduced by the darkside ;D
-
That looks great, Niko! Glad to hear you finally dialed her in.
Looks like I need to see what all the fuss is about these Clearidge scopes....

Here's my pair of Brocock contour super Six's
Top one is .177 on a Beach stock with MTC TAIPAN sidewinder 4-15x50
Bottom one is .22 on aWalnut stock with a Hawk Sport HD 4-12x50
I love shooting this pair Some days I take both out and walk one side of my permission with one and then swap to the other for the other side

And I have heard the contour stock is a direct fit.

Some updates :D
I got me a new scope for my Theoben Eliminator ,22.
It is a MTC Genesis 5-20x50 AMD and I am very happy with it.
Very good optics in it with great clarity and light and the AMD reticle is nice.
-
I also got me a AA Pro Sport ,177 walnut and decided to put a MTC Genesis 5-20x50 AMD in Sportsmatch Dampamount on it.
This combo will be really nice to try out when I get a couple of days off :D
-
I truly despise this thread. Every time I think I have all I need....you enabling nuts convince
Me how totally silly that feeling is.

I can relate Joe.

At risk of sounding like a jerk ;-). Here's the latest addition...
A week ago I lucked into a too good to be true offer...an AZ tuned .20 Rapid for $600! I know it sounds crazy. In the process met a genuinely nice man who's son has no interest in AGs and he's moving on. So he found someone (me) to take care of his beloved AZ Rapid. Wait it gets better...so in talks with him I ask what pellet does it like? He says AZ tunes them for Crosman CPs. I laugh and tell him wouldn't you know that Crosman discontinued those. His response, let me check as I have some here you can have. Umm, 10 boxes of them which quite honestly are worth about how much he wanted for the rifle! So for the sum of $750 shipped, I have an AZ Rapid and 10 boxes of its favorite pellet.
I have to report that AZ Rapids cannot really be described other than amazing!
I slapped on a Bushy and shot these two groups of 5 from 10 yards offhand. Did I say AMAZING?
-
That is some serious sexiness right there Andrew!!
Enjoy!!!
-
LOL. That's two 6 shot groups! 12 shot mag.
Oh and shipped in a silicone sock in a hard case. Am I lucky or what?
-
;D Andrew you should run out and buy a power ball ticket that is a beautiful rifle
-

Wow! I love everything about that stock, Josh. From the lines of it's design, to the grain structure. What a beautiful piece of timber.

Forgot to post gun porn of my new baby on this thread so here ya' go...note the sexy oiled dirty pics, video of my 50-80 yard antics forthcoming.

fresh out of box
(http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/o581/pezzer888/100_1126.jpg)
after first attempt at scope mounting (the BKLs slipped, now using Sports Match w/ pin) and accessories installed
(http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/o581/pezzer888/100_1127.jpg)
you can see the "Tiger" stripes a bit better from this angle, nice wood eh'?
after her first rub down with oil, very hot!...plus you can see the grain better now, cat digs it too
(http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/o581/pezzer888/100_1130.jpg)
first sight-in and 25 yard pellet test...yeah, not picky at all but still prefers the imported pellets even over the brown box Crossman heavies
(http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/o581/pezzer888/100_1132.jpg)
decent look at the wood grain effect with those cool stripes in the sun
(http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/o581/pezzer888/100_1133.jpg)
new for this year the Air Arms logo in now cut into the bottom of the ebony grip cap, very cool

sexy lighting version
(http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/o581/pezzer888/100_1135.jpg)
pellet test day 2, still like the imported stuff a bit better but at 25 yards its too close to call...at 50+ yards the JSB heavies and the Baracudas have about the same grouping so far
Going to seriously try and setup the camera to get some video of the 50 yard groups and my 80 yard soup can shooting. Just way too fun! Hope you all that had not seen my thread last month I figured I would put up a photo spread on here for those that missed it. Can't have too much gun porn around, right? :D

Nicely done!!! ;D

Dave, those stripes are the bomb. What a great looking rifle.

I am posting some more nice Wood pics since we seem to be a small bunch who like them :D
I took a couple of shots of my favorite Beech stock (a Webley Patriot ,22 from Birmingham) and my favorite Walnut stock (a Air Arms Pro Sport ,177).
The Walnut stock is quite hard to get a nice photo of since the "glare" in the Wood moves with different angles.
-
I rarely have reason to say this, but man! that's a nice beech stock.
-
Thanks Paul.
I like it a lot too since it is quite rare with this kind of beech stocks.
The walnut stock on my photos is impossible to get a good photo of since I cannot find an angle that makes the reflections in the wood appear att the same time.
The tiger striped stock further upp in this thread is just awesome.
-
Very nice Pro Sport, Michael ;)
Wax up that Walnut and take it out in full sun, it will pop and breathe life into the grain for more dramatic pics.
Very nice! Thanks for sharing 8)
-
Thanks Niko,
I will keep working with the oil treatment and keep my fingers crossed for some more "life" in the walnut grain :D
You have some really nice stocks in your avatar too :o :D

Michael,

-
Brazos,
You must be new ... That tackle-box looks kinda small. ;D
Great looking stock!
Seriously, a pouch 'o pellets and the rifle are all you need for a day of bummin' in the woods.
It doesn't get any better (or easier) than that!! ;)
Cheers,
Smoketown
-
Not too new. I got into this stuff 10 years ago and have slowly acquired a bunch of different pellets. My current tackle box needs to be up sized. When I took the picture I was just finishing trying out various pellets. I run an archery/air gun range where I live. We have approx. 250 family memberships. Back in March I started holding field target matches. Air rifles have since taken off in popularity. With a lot of new shooters with new rifles I am constantly helping people. Part of that is having different pellets to try. Most of my guys show up with Daisy pellets from WalMart.
-
Very nice rifle Brazos :D
Really nice of you to show new shooters the importance of good quality pellets.
Bad pellets will ruin the fun in shooting any air rifle.
-
Beautiful guns, Keep em coming folks !

Hi all,
Too cold outside for any meaningful shooting right now but I am planning some indoor shooting this weekend and will try to gather some chrono strings and target photots for you :)
A friend of mine told me my first photo was not so good so I made a new effort :)

Did some work on the stock over the last month or so...filling the grain and feeding the walnut. Replaced the BKL riser and Burris Zee's with BKL dbl straps. Added a Maccari FAC kit inside.

Well put Don! You guys are the best ;) The collective knowledge on this forum is 2nd to none and has pointed me in the right direction right from the start. 30 years ago I knew nothing about the fine details of air rifle shooting. Now that I am getting back into it I am seeing there is so much that I was missing out on back then.

I really like the walnut stock. But after shoot it today out to 35 yards. I am just in love with the whole thing. And tomorrow should be better.
-
Beautiful TX, Racer. Is that the stock recoil pad or did you upgrade? Looks great.
-
That is the stock pad. Seems to be glued on. I can't see any screws. The only upgrade I made sofar is the Maccari spring kit. And the difference is very noticeable.

They are screwed on. If you look close you can see tiny slits in the rubber that allows you to get in with a phillips head screwdriver. One top, one bottom. A little oil smeared on the screwdriver helps if you ever take it off.
Steve

Thanks
I am using this rifle for field target. I might
Get an adjustable pad later.

This is the one I got from Rowan http://www.rowanengineering.com/products.htm (http://www.rowanengineering.com/products.htm) They make nice parts. If you are shooting HFT it has to be centered.

I was shooting hunter then. I switched to open springer. I want to get that and a trigger I like the set back trigger.

-
Beautiful, Lester.
Now tell me about that stock.
The stock was among the last made by GinB before closing down, the dark wood is sono kembang and the light colored wood is teak. The stock has a 3" forend for benchrest shooting.
-
Beautiful, Lester. Absolutely beautiful.
The loss of GinB to the airgun community was huge, in my book. Sure wish another artisan with similar skill would fill the void.
-
That rifle is gorgeous Lester!!
Love that stock!
-
That rifle is gorgeous Lester!!
Love that stock!
Thanks.
I wish GinB were still around, I just noticed how many people were using S400 type rifles for field target. Without GinB it is going to be harder to get good stocks for field target shooting with the S400 series rifles.
-
Really stinks.
I was looking to have a TH stock made for my TX.....no joy.
Surprised they couldn't survive as they did beautiful work at a reasonable price.
-
Of all the GinB stocks I've drooled over during the last few years, that one is my absolute favorite.
It's simply perfect.
-
Ok,
Newest TX finally rigged up for FT duty .... While I did purchase this rifle used last winter from a fellow GTA member, it is NEW to me and one Fine Bombshell of a TX 200 MKIII 8)

Monster power too for a .177 cal blasting *FTT 8.64's at 930 fps !! with typical TX accuracy.
-
Ahhhh....fiddleback walnut. Truly stunning.
And 930fps??? Daayyyyaaammmmm. 8)
Really nice TX, Scott, and very cool sidewheel too.
-Paul
-
Nope, just a lucky draw on the walnut lottery. Yes she was VERY hard to give up just because of that grain and look of that stock. Got bit by that damm PCP bug though. Darn air puffers are nice and accurate and hit HARD (mine is .25 cal 44 ft/lbs) but I still have my 33 year old Hw77 so neener. I no expert but that one is near gradable quality almost. Very stripey and such...and yes VERY hard hitter too. Scott how do you do so well with the FTTs in her? She shoots so hot I tended to pull less fliers using the Cudas with their slightly heavier weight but then again I only shot her from 50 to 80 yards because "tackdriver / bug smasher". lol
Just an off the shelf TX200 Mk3 that had a pretty chunk of wood on her. Glad you are enjoying her Scott. She seems to be in good hands so I feel good about it. You give her a tune or just the basics and stock everything inside?
-Dave
-
Hi Scott, very puuuurty TX. I was always under the impression that about 13FPE was most accurate for HFT and bench for springers? Why is yours shooting in the 16 or 17FPE range, and accurately? I guess with .177 trajectory, and deadly accuracy at 930fps, you are taking some of the wind effects out of the equation? My stock TX with FTT's was 870fps @ 15fpe S/D of 10, shooting accurately. After your tune with same pellet 819pfs @ 13fpe S/D of 3, big difference in accuracy, groups really tightened up.
I was always under the impression that "speed kills" with springers ...

Thinking about stripping the stock and seeing what is under the paint.
Though also liking at bicycle parts.......That rifle is money I could use on another build...lol
-
As much as I'm a fan of AA's walnut, that paint job is killer...I wouldn't touch it.
As for bike parts, I know the feeling. Another Kool-ade drink that is hard to turn away from! Titanium is expensive.
Beautiful rifle, bro.

Beautiful rifle, bro.
;) Carbon Fiber isn't cheap either and forget rims and bearings or ceramic bearings. My brother spent several grand on a set of rims and some crank bearings ::)
-
Yeah I know they are not cheap, now toss a 2 stroke motor on the bike and add more expensive parts!
-
;D No thanks :o The last time I rode a 2 stroke was back in the early 70's A good friend lent me his 750 Kawasaki 2 stroke I left a brown trail behind the bike when I hit the power band at around 11,000 rpm in 4th gear and the front wheel came 18" off the pavement and rising. Needless to say I short shifted all the way back to his house
-
My first bike was a friends kh500 Triple. Guess that is why I like nitrous now.
After shooting tonight I was just sitting there looking at the stock. Is there a prettier stock on an air rifle than the TX 200?

Worked up the courage and took the band saw to the S500. Lessoned learned... I should have drilled the holes first and then made the cut. Drilling holes in the two separate pieces proved a bit more difficult for alignment. Was happy with the results though and one step closer to what I'm hoping is an improved 2016 FT score :)
-
Very cool, Jeff ... and that takes a set of brass ones to commit to the cut. The misalignment is not very noticeable in the pic. You would think that AA would offer this option, just charge for it.
Nice work, I hope it improves your FT accuracy as well.
Pappy

First group at 50 yards with sniper mags was apple tree rest; up to this point had been running CPUM 10.3 at 30 yards (.4" groups common)
Ignore the AA 10.3 in the pic they do not like a full fill...
the Sniper mags well was a .6 or so group but on the 5 shot I slipped on my rest... got just a touch miffed so decided to try to kill the miss...
low right aim point and almost pulled it off... left me 4 shots so moved to 30 yards & better rest.
Bottom bull low right aim point two in one hole bullseye then just a touch low then blew it and pulled one out of rhythm... I am convinced I am the reason they did not make one slightly larger than .177" hole
quick and dirty testing with a variety of rounds is very encouraging about this low end BSA having a lot of potential... and pretty darn good as is...
Proud of my Buccaneer pretty durn to very accurate... with a variety of pellets

Photobucket blew it for us all!

Posting this one here because she is basically a US made Theoben by one of the original owners.
My 'Red Ryder" Rapid Air Weapons HM1000x .30. She dose bark a little at 79 foot pounds but hit SO hard at range and stays tight at every range I have shot so far. Ragged hole at 80 yards and working on a video of both my PCPs and the new Hawke Frontier 30 I picked up for my pest control platform.

Even though she is WAY heavier than my Cricket rifle at about 12 pounds with optic she feels in the offhand position almost as light and better balanced than any rifle I have held. Close to three pounds difference between the two but the feels are amazing on the RAW. The Cricket is no slouch but Martin has out done himself with these stocks.

Here's my one and only Air Arms TX200 MKIII with walnut stock,
Set up with Accutrac Scope and ran at least 1500 pellets with no issues.
Using for competition bench shooting.

ok, i know this is for break barrels, but it's the only area dedicated to British guns.
my new Brocock Contour XL S6. just received the scope so she hasn't been shot yet.
i think the hawke 4-12X50 may be too large for this pup. might have to look at a Bugbuster.

Took the 4" wheel off the scope, it was covering up my LCD readout.

My favorite rifle, but she is a little moody. She doesn't always want to shoot the same place everyday, so I need to spend some time with her, rezero the scope, and then she will perform outstanding feats of shooting prowess.
-
Wow! Simply stunning..
The only Springer I really need in my life!
Nice glass on there too!! Sightron I guess looking at that sidewheel..

Yes, it’s a sightron siii Moa-h specifically for FT. It works very well.

It was a separate purchase Yogi. I bought it from a gentleman in the U.K. probably not too many left handed GinB stocks here in the us. I don’t know that for sure though.

Another Theoben in my gun rack: Grand Prix custom built for a customer with short barrel, cal.22.
That's how I got her, pretty awesome condition but... could be improved, which I did:
And that's how I reworked my T: added brass silencer cap (original was scratched), hot reblued silencer (original finish was really worn down on it), put Westley & Richards safari sling to add a touch of English class to that beauty:
And now she looks like this, topped with nothing less than Leupold 3-9x33 EFR :)

For fellow who found the .20 AZ Rapid at estate sale.
I just sold one with Anschutz barrel for a friend. I owned 2 English AZ Rapids. Both MKII’s. A .22 & .25
JSB as you probably know by now is releasing 15.9 .20’s. I’m a lefty & so is the gun I let go to another friend who never owned one. I honestly never owned a .20 & figured he’d appreciate it more than I would. Those new 15.9’s though will be amazing. This rifle was also set at 930 fps.
Allan is upgrading all older .20 Rapids he did for the new .20’s. New titanium valve poppets, any magic he does & setting to shoot the new 15.9’s best. He says pest birds at 150 yards aren’t a problem for these new pellets. They’re long & must have a good high BC though I don’t know exact # I would bet at least 0.3?? maybe even better than .25 Kings. ????
