May just be what you said, lawyers getting involved. A loaded gun, cocked and fully charged might just be a hazard. Possible too that the seals can may get deformed if under full pressure for long periods. Extruded seals can affect performance.Advice on storage with a pump or two comes from Timmy Mac and others who work on them. A little pressure against the seals keeps dirt/debris from getting into the compression chamber, at least that's what I understand.Impressed that you read the manual. Actually that you have the manual. Did it specify max # of pumps?
VERY interesting.I had a 342 and a Daisy 880 back in the '70s and could have sworn I remembered the difference between the two was the Daisy max was 10 pumps and the Benji had a max of 8
