Blown Marauder Gauge

After about a year of trouble free use, the gauge on my Marauder went into a state of "Total Inability To Sustain Usual Performance". The gauge on the gun was typically lower by about 150PSI when compared to the gauge on the Hill pump. Now, the needle is a bit sprung out of the center and swung completely past the 3.5K mark. So it is getting replaced because it is clearly faulty and I don't know how long it will hang in there.
For those that like to see the broken parts, here it is with about a 2500PSI fill if you want to take a Hill Mk3 pump's word for it.
There are a lot of good threads with more than enough info for a mutant like me to figure out what to do and where to get at least decent replacements. I am looking at the McMaster Carr "High-Pressure Miniature Gauge Nickel-Plated Brass Case, 1" Dial, 1/8 NPT Center Back" with a 4000PSI scale (currently part number 9767T21 in the McMaster-Carr online store - part numbers seem to change frequently).
I need to take a few days before ordering, so thought I would ask about impressions of these units and whether there were other options to consider. I might be willing to pay perhaps $30 or $40 dollars for a more reliable, compatible 1 inch gauge with better accuracy and/or a nicer dial. But the McMC gauges don't look too bad to me and for under 11 dollars, I may order a few.

You may want to consider the 5000 psi gauge since most pressure gauges read most accurately at center scale and many here have used the McMaster gauges

I haven't had good results with the factory/stock gauges either. I've been using the McMaster-Carr 0-4000 gauges on my air guns for a while now. I have had only one to read off - some. It was reading about 150 psi too low. I replaced it with another one and it has been working fine. I like to keep some extras on hand (not for sale). Until I hear about another brand/gauge that works better, I plan to keep using them

Thanks for the feedback, all. I went with the McMaster-Carr 0-4000 scale for readability, mostly. I ordered 3. I suspect my eyes add as much error as the gauge does to the readings, so a 5000 or 6000 PSI gauge will read as well as a 4000 as far as my eyeballs are concerned. I seldom fill to 3000 PSI in my day to day shooting, so most of the time I
should
be in the area of of highest accuracy.
But this is for a .177 cal Mrod. I plan to get a .25 cal for hunting at some point soon. I expect I will be asking a lot of the gun and running at higher pressures. That might sway me to the 5000 or 6000 PSI units.
Booger, what sort of gauges did the paintball shop use? Got any pics?

Replacement gauges arrived today. Took a few minutes to change out the bad one. This one still reads a bit low (as compared to the hill pump's gauge), but it is certainly more better than the one that came with the gun - even when it was "working". At any rate, there was a slow leak from the gauge so off it came.
Replacing it was simple: Degas. Pull the action from the stock. Remove the bad gauge. Wrap the new one in yellow PTFE. Screw it in and pump it up.
This was the first time I have ever had to pump the Mrod up from 0 PSI. I have to say it was not as bad as I thought it would be. I managed to get it to about 3000 PSI in roughly 200 strokes, about 20 minutes including time to let the pump and the operator cool down a time or two.
Now to see if it leaks over the next couple of days.

I have been using the white teflon tape, folding it in half lengthwise ( when the gauge is installed, it doesn't leave the extra hanging out at the top ) - with good results. The yellow teflon tape should work well too.
I use a socket or boxed in wrench, to get full ( radial ) contact on the gauge. If I were to use a two sided wrench, it can twist and damage the gauge.
If you think the gauge is defective, they may take it back or send you another one

Gauges are not perfect. Being that little off would not bother me. Just know your gauge and all should be good.
